We stay a night in Green House B&B. The B&B is about 15 minutes walk from the Hualien Train Station but it is quite a distance to the Hualien city. We took about 25 minutes walk from the B&B to the city.

The room is pretty the same as the photo we saw in booking.com.  We book a standard room and we were assign a room next to the kitchen on the ground flour. Its clean and pretty good. 

The owner prepare our breakfast which is quite decent and for me its delicious. Do not expect too much on the breakfast as it was only a B&B hotel. 

However during our stay we have some not so good experience staying in this B&B. We arrived earlier about 2pm and as usual the check in time is 3pm. The owner told us the room is not ready yet so we are ok with it. The owner then told us the which is our room and then provide us the key. Since it was a hot day so we decide just to hang around at the lounge. After about 20 minutes the owner then ask us for the room key and allow us to check in our room. The room was actually not occupied and was even ready before we came. Its just that the owner is a bit petty to allow us into our ready room and told us its not ready.

Also...this B&B provide the necessary toiletries but WITHOUT towels. And they even switch off the heater. We need to ask them on the hot water only then they say oh they forgot to turn it on.

Although the room is quite clean but I find it dusty. Its because the room is full of decoration such as fake flowers, dolls, skirting of the bed frame  which is nice but I believe they don't really clean it every time. So I kind of find it dusty.

Overall, its a OK stay for us other than the owner a bit petty on such little small things as mention above.

Not quite up to expectation

We stayed in 2 family rooms of 4 pax in each room on the 2nd and 3rd floor. No lift, pure staircase. There are only 3 storeys. 

The rooms were spacious with balconys and very pretty. When we first stepped in, we were excited to take pictures. 

We were however taken aback to know that we could only pay by cash for TWD8400! There was no indication in our booking that we needed to pay by cash. We were thus faced with cash flow problems due to this unexpected cash payout. 

Breakfast was continental breakfast, cooked by the owners which includes bread, egg and bacon. The breakfast was quite decent. 

Minsu is far away from railway station and very hard to locate. I suggest to cab from train station to the minsu. It will probably cost less than TWD100. 

Do not leave valuables in the room. On one occasion, I accidentally unlock another room with my own room keys as I forgot where my room was. There are altogether 8 rooms in the minsu. In other words, there are also other tourists staying in the same minsu. 

Staying in someone's place, means that you got to be a bit tidier and follow house rules like wearing slippers and throwing toiletpaper into the waste paper basket instead of flushing it down the toilet bowl, as it will clog. Quite a different thing from staying in hotels.

Pretty minsu

Location is not bad for (about 5-10 min walk from Hualien station) exploring Taroko National Park.  it is about 30 min. walk to the downtown area where all the better shops and restaurants are though.  Owners seemed nice but they do not speak any English (didn't matter because after check-in, we never saw them again).  They gave us a map with some good restaurant recommendations.  I booked with Agoda and breakfast was supposed to be included (which we never got).  I didn't care for the Hello Kitty themed pink room but my wife loved it.  The room was a bit dusty and sheets and comforters were not that clean.  Not a bad place to spend a couple of nights in Hualien.
