For some reason, we could not book this hotel through the internet, as the internet keeps come up with an error message every time we try to book it. Finally, I just write down the hotel address and draw a map on a piece of paper since the hotel location is close to Kaoshiong Main train station and within walking distant – around five minutes walk.

The hotel located straight from the front of Kaoshiong Main station, around a couple block on the left side of the street. The hotel has a big sign outside the building.

The reception speak English well and really helpful. We get the same price as per website in the internet. It cost TWD 1,200 (usd 41) per night with breakfast. The reception also help us to find and negotiate taxi fare for the whole day sightseeing the next day to go up the mountain.

We have a room on the higher floor and the room itself quite strange, and really old. It has Japanese style design, with step on the floor from the room hallway to the bed, and the mattress on the floor, a cheap plastic sofa which looks quite dirty, small and broken cupboard, old refrigerator, television, and a water pump inside the room. However, I think the water pump is not working as when I press it, the water is neither cool, nor hot. It smell like someone was smoking in the room. After open the windows and let a fresh air in, the smell was not bad.

Since the room has a window facing the main street, it has city view, but it was a bit noisy from the traffic outside. In addition to this, there is a humming sound inside the room which makes me a bit headache and difficult to sleep at night time. I think the sound probably come from the air condition unit which install in the whole building.

The bathroom has a bathtub for shower. However for some strange reason, there were no shower curtain in the bathtub, so the whole bathroom floor get flooding after shower.

I find the towels were too thin and well used and no floor matt and ended up I used the face cloth for floor matt.

The breakfast was not worth going in. Basically it was only a couple pieces of cold toast with fried eggs. You can help yourself to jam and butter and coffee from the machine.

The elevator was quite slow and no air condition, so a bit stuffy inside.

Plenty of cafes and local restaurant near the hotel and Kaoshiong main train station. The Liuhe Night Market is close by and within easy walking distant – only one block from the hotel and located opposite it (on the right side) – around six minutes walk.

Overall, it was a budget hotel and okay for a night or two, but no more. Personally, I think it is better to pay extra and find a better room than this hotel.

Old and Noise hotel

We stayed here for three nights while we were traveling through. Excellent location near the train station and MRT. With the night market nearby there were a variety of food options. Found some delicious red bananas!

This certainly isn't a luxury hotel but was sufficient for what we needed. The bed was much more comfortable than the one we stayed at in Tainan the night before. The room decorations were a little odd and dated but kind of charming in their own way. The wifi was great. The shower did get the whole bathroom wet but that is standard here. At least it was hot!

The breakfast was local foods only, no choices for us Americans, so we didn't eat there. This was a little disappointing, but you get what you pay for. 

The front desk clerks were friendly and helpful. Not all of them were comfortable speaking English, but we didn't have any problems. A smile goes a long way! 

If I came back to Kaohsiung (which is a great city by the way) I would stay here again no question.

Good basic accommodations

Booked online through the hotel's website.  It was cheap and I reserved a room.

I used my credit card to reserve a room and a month later my credit card was used by someone overseas. Avoid!! 
Never reserve or pay by a credit card. Pay cash only!!!!!!!!

Avoid!

We had to take an early morning train to Taipei and this was the cheapest option available near the station. 5  minute walk to the rail station and easy to find. Also near to the Liuhe night street market. This is a low cost business hotel. We got a small room.  Equipment and furniture  basic and a bit old, toilet just next to the bed. Breakfast in a cavernous basement. But service is friendly and helpful. Free WIFI in the room. Good value for a overnight stay.

Good low budget business hotel near the rail station

So stayed for business, hotel is very basic. not much in the way of high quality fittings had a corner room with a round bed and deep sunken bath, it seemed like I was in one of those x-rated videos. Just a weird vibe to the room. Anyway for a overnight stay it was ok, markets not far and plenty to eat in the vicinity.
