The hostess was wonderful, very welcoming and full of positive energy!  She welcomed us with oolong tea at one the front outdoor tables, nestled by a garden and growing tea.  The host is very chill, with an easy smile.  The homestay is a short walk above Shizhuo town (where there are restaurants and buses going either direction), and a lovely way to get to town is via the Love Trail, a beautiful staircase that heads down through tea fields.  The hostess can provide information about the bus schedule.  The room was quite large.  A great alternative to staying right in Alishan.

Lovely homestay

This homestay/B&B is run by a lovely couple who, with their sons and daughter, also farm tea and ginger. They generously demonstrated tea cultivation and processing from start to finish. A good location from which to explore Alishan National Recreation Area. 

Homestay on tea plantation 

We loved it here. The family were friendly and hospitable. They helped us organise hikes in several different places and there was always delicious tea being served. It's clean and comfortable and a lot of fun!

Charming

We stayed 2 nights at Tianyi Minshu and really like the serene feel of this place. You could see and smell the beautiful rows of tea shrubs the moment you open the main door. We were also very lucky to be able to see the cloud floating through the rows of tea shrubs. A very beautiful sight. The rooms are big, spacious, and clean. I like the garden fresh and wood smell in the room. The owners were very friendly and whenever we are around, the lady boss will serve us tea and chitchat with us. The lady boss showed us round their tea factory and also the tea leaves making processes. In the night, the boss brought us to his bamboo plantation to see the luminous worms and mushrooms. A very wonderful experience that you will never forget and will never get from city life!

A place that you will never forget!

stay here for a total of 3 nights during my 17 day trip around taiwan.
honestly, i really regretted staying 3 nights here. 1 nights would have been the max.
no doubt the family (dad, brother and sister) were VERY nice people. but the overall maintenance of this whole b&b fell FAR SHORT.  $500 sing dollars for 3 nights just wasn't worth it. on our second day (we were the only ones staying at that time), breakfast was just a mere PLAIN WHITE BUN and  eggs only because the owners daughter thought there wasn't any bun. on the 3rd morning there were vegetables, porridge, buns, and even soya milk, only because the owner had LOCAL GUESTS staying over, the starling difference in treatment........

and on top of this high price we were paying for the room, we even had to fork out additional money for dinner.

and also, they don't have aircon, we almost had fried when we went back to the room to rest at around 3pm in the afternoon.

would i visit this b&b again? no.

only suitable for 1 night

had a trip to taiwan in december 2015, and during my stop at alishan, chose to stay at tianyi minsu. 

it was amazing, authentic, rustic, and hospitable. it is the guesthouse of a tea plantation owner, and tea appreciation along with getting to know the hosts and fellow guests who are appreciating the same pot of tea, comes naturally along with the experience of the stay. i appreciated the experience immensely. this homely experience is of course in addition to the beauty of alishan itself, a scenic place worth visiting

family for a day, memories for life

The inn (民宿) is in a village house which is part of the tea farm which seems to be the main business of the owner. When we first arrived, the owners seemed to be overly enthusiastic and we were concerned that they were trying to push us to by package or other things. The lady owner (譚姐) made tea for us right after we arrived. 

We booked the only room left for that period which was a room for 4 people (and the price associated with 4 people). When we arrived, we told the lady owner that we were only a party of two, and we negotiated and she was willing to let us have a price very close to the price for a 2 person room, but the room actually can accomodate 4 people.The room was clean and comfortable considering it was a farmhouse style building. The room was totally lined with cedar wood and have that nice aroma. The internet was painfully slow, and the 3G service at that location was also not very good. 
The owner gave us very good instruction on how to tour around the Alishan park area. This instruction was invaluable as we found out that if we take the train (inside the park area) to the wrong station, the whole tour would have been walking up-hill, and that would have been impossible for my wife (who is physically weak) to finish the route. The owner also gave instruction for me to go to a lesser known site for viewing sun rise. So, the hospitality of the owners really grow on us and at the end, we almost did not want to leave. Highly recommended.
