Windsor's Vanilla Garden B&B

We were two families traveling together - three adults and four children.  The homestay is not easy to find.  If you have a car service / driver taking you there, it may be best to have your driver talk to the people at the homestay. It was a rainy night when we arrived, our driver dropped us and all our luggage off at the meeting point.  The next time, we would ask the driver to follow the people from Windsor B&B up to our actual accommodation.  It was a long walk.  The people at Windsor had us stop at their cafe - which is where breakfast is served - gives us maps and talked and then have us walk up a bunch of steps to the actual accommodation.  Not the best route on a rainy day.  They did have scooter to pick up our bigger pieces of luggage.

Note also that there are only a few restaurants that remains open after 8pm.  We were a little last, but after the grand tour of Jiufen (we were lost), we realize that we were actually only a stairway away from the Old Street (laojie).  If you arrive late, probably best to ask the people from Windsor to show you the direction to the restaurants from your accommodation.  The maps available everywhere is not that accurate.

We booked Room 4 at the Herb Garden, the eight person room.  Two queen size beds on each of the upper and lower level, so a total of four queen beds.  The children had a blast staying upstairs.  The ceiling height of upstairs is very low, so best for children. Our two year old had fun climbing up and down the stairs.  The upper level was surrounded by glass, so we could keep an eye on the children very easily.  

The view from our room is of village houses along the hills, not of the mountains, but scenic in its own right.  The balcony also houses a little fish pond.  The children enjoyed that a lot.

No tubs, just shower, so keep that in mind with very young children.   

View from the cafe at breakfast was great.  So be sure to go to breakfast - which was included - to enjoy your coffee with the beautiful view.  

Overall, the children loved this room, it was spacious enough to run around and they enjoyed going up and down the stairs.  They had a large dining table so everyone can sit down for snacks, etc.  A little conversation area with small sofa.  There is also a water dispenser with hot and room temperature water.
