One of the recommended place to  visit in taiwan especially if you have kids around. They will enjoy their experience with  the sheep where they can feed them in their own hands and take picture of them. The place also has a shop where they sell souvenirs and sheep products plus there is an area also where you can find cherry blossoms!

Kid friendly place

Cingjing area, there aren't many modern minsu. This by far, one of the best local experience yet with basic clean, modern facilities. Some minsu are so traditional that you may have to step on muddy path. There is only one way into minsu, so drive carefully, especially when u return after dinner, evening driving (too dark) can be challenging. 

Surrounded by tall trees and at height 1920, offers fantastic views. Our room attached with balcony, unblock view of mountains, cloud, stars..we enjoyed tea while magically touching moving clouds! We only stayed one night cuz needed to break the self-drive route from Nantou (sun moon lake) to Hualien (taroko gorge).  It was raining during our night, otherwise we could have joined trip for sunrise watching, starry night exploration". NTD400 per pax, can asked details at reception. Surprisingly, at such high altitude, water pressure was strong, hot water was stable. Toilets lights too dim especially for young children, basic toiletries, towel too thin. 24 hours coffee, red tea, hot water dispenser at ground floor reception. No lift. Has children sand pit but more attractive for young children.

I would recommended as one of those short vacation getaway where you can have good jolly fun time with old friends as there is fire-place and fantastic music! Cool place to catch-up till late night. Like other minsu, everyone encouraged to bring back cutlery to center bin.  

Short vacation getaway with old friends!

I had a pleasant stay at this Minsu! It was not very accessible, and need a taxi to get in, but one can see the sheep gazing at the sides of the off road leading to and fro the place! We arrived early (at about 2pm plus), and the owner allowed us to deposit our luggage first, requesting us to come back after 3 for check in (so we sat back in the same taxi to the Green Green Grassland).

When we came back at night, other families andf guests were having their dinner (which looked good). We had to take off our shoes and deposit in the lockers at the door, and disposable slippers were provided for use in the minsu. No lifts were available so we had to carry our luggage up to our room on the 3rd floor. 

The owners also introduced us to a package to watch the stars, sun rise in thew nearby mountains. We couldbnt provide our numbers for a morning call, so we were told to just come down and wait at 3.45am :o. when the time comes, however, we waited until 4.15am before someone (the provider I guess) drove up to tell us that it was cancelled due to the rain. :( But we didn't blame them for the delayed response as we didn't provide a number for them to call directly.

The room was cozy! The bathroom and toilet - warning:  have transparent glass panels though so need to take this into consideration. Not sure if its the same for all other rooms.

Breakfast was provided buffet style! Several simple yet delicious home cooked dishes with porridge! Very cozy. Weather was great when the rain stopped in the morning. Fog cleared leading to an awesome view. We lazed around the whole morning, and took the provided and arranged transport to Taichung HSR after check out. Owners were polite too. Recommended.

Pleasant stay

Booked this minshu as I thought the view would be fantastic since it is near cingjing farm. What a disappointment it was!
The view is the only saving grace. The minshu had probably seen better times. My family stayed in 2 rooms. A 4 bedder at corner and a 2 bedder. The toilet door of 2 bedder came right off and this staff was not able to fix it. So he tied a string to keep the whole door from falling. So the door was left perpetually open...
The 4 bedder had a light bulb burnt and they were not able to fix it...for some reasons.  The toilet door can't be closed as it doesn't look like it belong there in the first place. There was a rain shower but spoilt. The showerhead does not come with a holder, so you need to keep holding on to it while showering. No warmer, electric comforter provided. The heater had extra charge of twd500 a night.  There's no towel in the rooms. If you want to shower you need to ask for towels at the counter.  When we did, they asked "are you really sure you are going to have a shower now?" (Do I need to report when I need to use the toilet?)
Now for service. We were shouted at when we tried to deposit our luggage at 230pm. The same staff who could not fix anything refused entry to us. He insisted that check in is strictly at 3pm.  He asked our driver to read their check-in rules before going next time.  (Sorry no more next time for us)
Breakfast was just porridge and a few dishes. The staff..about 3 of them stand behind the counter and asked people to help themselves. ..seeming to be friendly but staring at what each person takes.

We really felt like we were imposing and if its not at such a rural place in such cold weather, we would have changed hotel based on the first shouting incident. It was our first minshu experience and what a nightmare this was.  If the boss is reading,  he should quickly do something about it.

Everything is falling to pieces. ..

This homestay was recommended by a friend. I didn't go online to check this homestay resort prior to booking. This hotel is a bit far from the town. There is no restaurant or cafe in the hotel. However, food delivery or transport to bring the hotel guests to the restaurant can be arranged.  The road leading to the hotel is not in good condition.It is narrow and not well paved with tar. There is no wifi in the room, only in the lobby area. Nevertheless, the surrounding is tranquil and very quiet, a great place to relax. From the balcony, you can catch the sunrise and enjoy the beautiful scenery! 
The owner is exremely friendly, polite  and helpful, providing hotel guests with a lot of information about tourist spots in Taiwan. Breakfast is simple,with a few homecooked Taiwanese cuisine.  
Honestly, I don't find the room very comfortable!
