Location is great that one need to exit from the "Rear Station" of Taichung TRA station and will see the hotel right across the road.

I would say the decor of the floor where my room was looked worn-out and unappealing to some but this don't bother me much as I just need a clean bed and place to shower.

To those who are particular about the decor and comfort feel in the room would be disappointed but as I reiterated it's not an issue to me but concern would be the type of flooring used in the shower/toilet (take precaution if you have kids or elderly)

Breakfast was hand-delivered by staff to room that consisted either sandwich or burger with packet drink from nearby eatery (see picture).

Nonetheless, the staff who attended to me at check-in was friendly and attentive to my concern that she went on to share some tips about moving around Taichung in my day trip planning.

Friendly Staff made it up...

1. ROOM
- Room is reasonably clean. Toilet is clean. Corridor is very run down. 
- Room has no windows. Air-conditioned. Very low ceiling. 
- Comes with a bar fridge, LCD tv, wardrobe.
- Reason to choose this hotel bcos it is one of the only choice in Taichung with a room that can accomodate 4 adults within budget of USD$100. 

2. LOCATION
- Not so well located. Although on map it is opposite train station, it is this that makes this location unattractive. Not in the best district to see the best of Taichung. 

3. BREAKFAST
- It comes in a packed sandwich with a packet drink. No complains. Don't expect buffet breakfast. 

4. HOTEL AMENITIES
- Didn't explore around but quite interesting district with many shops (dun expect high-end stores or malls).

5. REVIEW
If I am to return to Taichung, would choose Hotel 53. If I am to return to visit, I will go straight to stay at Cingjing or Sun Moon Lake n skip Taichung.

Average Just to Sleep

We stayed there for 1 night. Large room (smoking) and proper bathroom. Clean. Smiling, welcoming staff. One person speaks very good English. Included lunch they bring you in the room at the time you want (1 cold drink and 1 sandwich. Located 10-15 minutes walk from the train station. Close to the supermarket.

It's a good hotel.

Not a business hotel but definitely decent enough for leisure travelers on a budget. Friendly receptionists, tasty breakfast (sandwich and packet drinks), near railway station and easy access to food (Mode Mall is within 10 min from hotel).

Corridor leading to rooms was dimly lit and run-down. But room seemed to have been renovated. Not chic, but decent looking. Importantly, room was clean and spacious.

Good value.

The staff were friendly & helpful. Location is good as it's just situated at the rear of the Taichung train station, but make sure that you exit from the rear if you are carrying bulky stuff,  if you exit from the front, then you need to take the underpass which is inconvenient with all the stairs. The room rates are value for money.

Good service

I checked in this hotel without prior booking.  At the beginning I was a little skeptical because of its reasonable room-rates.  However, I was kindly offered a peep at the rooms before I made the decision to stay.  The reception is on the main floor at street level and the rooms are on the 11th and 12th floors of the building.  There's no restaurant in this hotel, but the receptionist was kind enough to buy me a breakfast at my choice the next morning without any extra charge or tip.  The room is spacious, but the bathroom is only separated from the bed with a big transparent glass window, so if you go with ordinary friends or colleagues then it will be fun when one of you is taking the bath.  Another thing that I don't like is that I got mosquito-bites.  However, a great service compensates for everything else.
