First of all, I loved every minute of it.  Everyone was friendly, and helpful.  When I booked it said Chinese as the language used, but all the employees were fluent in English.  One was a French woman who also knew German.  This is a multicultural place.  

I meet so many fine folks there.  I was 69 years old and stayed a month.  Of course everybody was younger, but they made me feel at home.

You should take a trip to Taipei, and stay at First Hostel!

Wonderful Hostel in glorious Taipei

The Location: 
-Great location, of about 3-5 mins walk from taipower station (green line), which connects directly to 
a. Beimen station (where the taoyuan airport mrt is), 
b. Ximen station (where ximending and all its great food such as 阿宗麵線，老天祿滷味，鴨肉扁，天天利 are), 
c. Gongguan station (where ntu, gongguan night market and 陳三鼎 are), 
d. Chiang kai shek memorial hall station, 
e. Interchanges with blue and red line where most of the other sights/food of Taipei are located along are just a couple of train stops away 
-Right next to Shida Night market where it’s famous for its 燈籠滷味，評價滷味，健康滷味，生煎包，牛魔王，冰火菠蘿包 and fashion/trinket shopping. 
-close proximity to several cafes, breakfast shops (師大路永和豆漿 etc), drink shops (50嵐 etc) and convenience stores/mini-supermarket

The Facilities:
-Well equipped for all your needs. Provides: 
a. Decent sized Lockers (with in-built combination locks). Wouldn’t fit your rucksacks or roller luggages but good enough to store laptops, Everyday carry backpacks and bags. 
b. Free towels which you can choose to change daily 
c. Free laundry services (machine is wash and dry on the same day) 
d. Toilets are clean and equipped with washlet (gents and ladies are separate) 
e. Bathrooms are shared with 3 cubicles, 3 wash basins and a dressing area. Shower water strength is great! Shampoo/shower foams, hairdryers are provided. 
f. Kitchen contains all the utensils you will ever need. Huge fridge. Cold/hot water dispenser and free bread and spreads all day. 
g. 2 common areas. Main common area located on level 1 has a large wooden table and bench, a sofa and satellite TV! The smaller common area located in the basement is more for if you like some quiet/private time.

The Rooms:
-Decent sized with enough space for everyone no matter if you are in the 4 bedder or 6 bedder. -Beds and beddings are clean and comfortable. Air-condition is strong (if needed). 

The People:
-Hosts Erick and Olivier and hostel staff are friendly, helpful and approachable. My contact is mostly with Erick and Esther who impressed me with their hospitality and passion in bringing people from all over the world together. Had great fun during the dinner and walk-about organised by Erick on my first night there. 
-Guests are mostly Asian (especially popular with Koreans, Japanese and Malaysians) and a few long-term tenants who are pursuing various courses in the nearby institutions. 

Would definitely stay again if I were to embark on a trip of a similar nature to Taipei! 

Fantastic location, fantastic people, fantastic facilities 

I spent 2 days in this place and found it is very cosy and friendly place to stay for budget travelers. The location is very good and the place is clean. Simple but good breakfast is proposed (toasts, spread, tea, coffee). The common area is very chill and comfortable.

Very nice place to stay in Taipei

The hostel was great.  Location, cleanliness and friendliness of staff were great.  The only negative is that it is still noisy after 11pm.  They also offer a free breakfast and a towel is included which is a nice touch for a hostel which is changed daily.

Very good hostel

Really clean hostel with nice rooms. We stayed here for 3 nights and really liked it. Booked two beds in the 6-bed room and were alone for all nights :)

I stayed here for one night with the intention of trying other hostels for comparison but I loved it so much that I chose to sleep here for most of the time I was in Taipei. The hostel was difficult to find at first because it did not have a sign outside but once I found it, I couldn't be more happier. The staff members are very friendly and accommodating (shout out to Erick and Yiwa). I saw firsthand how they communicate with the guest and go out of their way to cater to the guests' needs. The location was very near Shida Night Market and walkable to Gongguan Night Market. The hostel itself is big, clean and bright and the common areas are very comfortable for chilling out. They have free laundry service, tea, bread and spreads (jam, peanut butter & hazelnut). They allowed me to leave my luggage at the hostel while I travelled overnight to Taichung. They also let me shower when I picked up my stuff and I just stayed there until such a time that I had to go the airport. I had a wonderful time there and would recommend the place to any frienda visiting Taipei.
