It was cold & wet in Taipei and I had an aching leg muscle that had been strained. Remembering the Japanese influence & the earthquakes, I reckoned there would be natural hot springs. Xin Beitou is home to hot springs & is soooo easy to get to. Just catch the MRT Red Line ( luckily I was staying along the Red Line). Got to the resort by 11am & they were not full (max 30) at the public (indoor) baths. Paid the small fee & got a coupon that indicated Male / Female ( there are separate baths). They provided locker ( even charged mine to be next to a bench as I had to sit to get my clothes off due to the leg problem), towels & shower cap. There are 3 baths / small pools with the one nearest the door being cold ( for use after hot soak). The 36degee bath is pleasant & had jacuzzi sprays ( used that to massage my muscles) and there is the 41degree hot bath. All have sulphur water so it’s milky in appearance. There is a steam room & sauna too. You can stay up to 4 hours ( one time entry) and there are showers with bath foam, shampoo and hair dryers once you are done. It was very nice & worthwhile. Felt very relaxed ( there is a lounge with free drinks & snacks for after the baths) and my recovery was speeded up. Would probably stay in the area ( which seemed pleasant & is 45minutes from town centre) next time.
