We stayed here from 5-8 Nov 2019.  Double bed was comfortable, towels were clean, complete toiletries including comb, toothbrush & toothpaste, shower gel, soap, shampoo, shaver, shower cap etc. Facilities include LCD TV, Hair blower, Table & Chair, disposable slippers, clothes hangers, 2 bottles water, coffee & tea, kettle and decent free wifi. Hot/cold water pressure good, small room but adequate and comfortable, daily housekeeping and water, coffee, tea, towels were replenished. Near Taichung train & bus station. Gancheng bus terminal for bus to Sun Moon Lake was less than 5 mins walk.  Local food options directly opposite the hotel.

Cheap and Good

We stayed at Moon Lake Hotel for 2 nights this September. It’s a three star facility, with clean, spacious rooms, strong hot shower, and accommodating hotel staff. They even coordinated with Klook tour operators for our pick up the following morning. The hotel is also well situated, with plenty of dining and shopping options, and reasonable walking district from the main train station. 

Good standard hotel

Value for money. I chose double bed room with no window. Good location. Near to 一中夜市， can walk to yizhong night market. Also will pass by yi zhong garden park. Near to another tourist location 宫原眼科 also. You need to notify the staff in lobby if you want the cleaner clean your room. But my room aircon have small problem like no that cool. And also the cleaner didnt fill in the toilet body shampoo after notifying them. Luckily I bring my own shampoo. Build in room hair dryer. Overall is ok due to budget hotel

Budget hotel, near the bus stations and yizhong night market

We booked a quadruple room at the last min as the hotel that we stayed at, didn’t have room on our 3rd night. 
We chose this hotel for the Low price offered, and the location. 
It was a 8-10mins walk to A Ming Shi sun biscuit branch, a nearby Thai/Vietnam food district and the Taichung train station, as we needed to take the train to Taipei the next morning. 

It was also within walking distance to Miyahara and Fourth Credit store. 

We stayed on the 8th floor. Bed was too soft to our liking, head pillow was not fluffy enough. Toilet had tiny dead flies above on the ceiling and moulds. 

Water pressure was very strong and the hot water had constant flow. No issues. 

Toothbrush were provided. Shampoo and body gel dispensers were provided. We didn’t like the smell of the body gel, it smelt like urine. 

Floor toilet towel was very old, had holes and was used. 

We didn’t feel very comfortable with the cleanliness overall. The previous hotel we stayed at, was the best we had stayed during our trip. This was the poorest. 

Nonetheless, it was for a night stay, at most a 10 hours in the room for us before we checked out. 

I would recommend if you are just staying for a night and needed a place nearby the station. 

We wouldn’t return to stay. 

A night stay

Initially booked this hotel for 6 days as we had good experience staying there before. However, we decided to refund the booking after 3 days as the situation became unbearable.

First of all, the room (316) felt really old and  had tons of marks on the walls. The back of the closet was broken, and there was a piece of used tissue underneath the bed. The entire room, which accommodates four people only has one outlet accessible. 

The bathroom was simply a disaster. Five minutes into your shower, the bathroom would be flooded and became extremely slippery - I almost fell at least three times myself. This was simply a design flaw, and I'm sure the management is well aware of this issue. Starting on second day, even using the faucet would flood the bathroom.

Given the relative low price of the room, we decided to bear with it. But what made us quit was that we came back to find a untidy room on the third day, and one of their employees came to our room to inform us that their "cleaning lady" was on vacation so they didn't clean our room. I'm not sure about others, but that sounds like complete bs and simply an excuse. Also, we did laundry with their facilities twice over the three day period. And at both times, some "supernatural being" would turned down the dryer temperature, which made us have to spend extra money to extend the drying time.

So yeah, we decided to move to the We Meet hotel eight beside it. Not sure how this one goes yet, but no way are we staying in Moon Lake any longer.

Ps. I'd give no star if I could...

Never coming back

We booked Comfort Twin Room with breakfast.
The bed is pretty old, the bathroom stinks a lot that we almost could not sleep.
Breakfast was ok, traditional chinese style. Drinks at breakfast is very sweet.

Hotel staffs are nice.
Location is very good, walking distance to bus station and Taichung train station.

If you plan to take a bus to Cingjing or train to Chiayi, this hotel is in a good location.
