The hotel seems to have gone through some upgrading esp in the rooms. The reception staff was friendly. Breakfast had a variety of east and west dishes. Dinner had the local speciality. Conveniently located next to ferry dock, shops, eateries etc, hence a good location for a short stay. One night in Sun Moon Lake was enough. Very nice view from the balcony. However, neighbouring room balconies were very close to each other, just hope your neighbours don't smoke there.

Picked for a nice view but ultimately not recommended... don't know what the household is... limestone from everywhere, disgusting joints, dust mats... beurk, the other night at a street and half price was finally much better and more friendly welcome!

It's very dirty.

We had a stay in this hotel during 11/24-11/25.
When we enter the room,it’s tiny and looks quite old style, but it doesn’t matter. But the terrible thing we had that we killed 7 cockroaches during our stay! Also the bathroom, c’mon! Are you serious? Dirty sink,bathtub and tiles! Even they came the 2nd time for cleaning,it looks a bit better. When we complained to concierge, they just told us that this building hasn’t renovation yet. This is not about renovation, is about your management. Also, when we asked for cycling information,they gave us the wrong info. I work in a hotel as well, but we shouldn’t treat our guest like this even we had a complain from them. Please improve it.

Terrible cleanness and concierge

Stayed here on Nov 5th.  The hotel is inside the town area near the piers. Plus, there is a discount on the ticket for hotel guests. If you are not a hotel, you need to pay $376 Ntd but as hotel guest you only $100 Ntd each. Plus, everything within walking distance, restaurant and Starbucks is within 2 minutes walked. 

Room – We booked a room with a view. Not the entire Sun Moon Lake but enough. All the amenities inside the room are there. 

NOTE: even though my room was in good condition but in sister room, she found three cockroaches run around. The hotel staff changes her room but she needs to pay $300Ntd extra because that room has a view.

Balcony – you can look over the lake and part of the town area. Quite nice.
Safe box – no safety box.

Bathroom – Bathroom is clean and comes with all the towels. Only thing is no shower curtain. 

Wifi – they provide but I don’t use them.

Breakfast – they have wide variety from salad, bread, coffee to porridge. Mostly are Taiwanese. No scramble eggs or hash brown. I did take any photograph for the breakfast. Too busy eating.

Electrical jacks – enough electrical jacks for charging.

Closet – No closet. Open closet with 3 or 4 hangers.

Parking – the hotel does not have its own parking. We need to park at the public area. A lot parking space but it’s on the other side of road. Its about 200 to 250 meters away. The hotel will reimburse the parking fee which is $100 ntd for all day parking.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at this hotel. I slept well. No complaint.

Clean, Convenient and with a view.

The best thing this hotel has to offer is the location and the view. Its worth paying the extra for the full lakeside view. The balcony was bigger than I thought, and two people can comfortably sit aside on the chairs, a great spot to have a few drinks and watch the sunset. The room was also clean and spacious and the bed comfy. 
Staff at reception did seem rude, check in is a 3pm, we arrived early yet they made us wait until check in time, since checkout is at 11am surely they would have one room made up before 3pm. We also received a call at 10.30am reminding us that check out was at 11am, what sort of hotel business does that? Felt very much like a school kid being told to hurry up, needless to say we waited right to the eleventh hour to check out.
The breakfast buffet was not great, western options was soggy french fries and chicken nuggets or toast, otherwise sone unusual asian options.
There is a Starbucks next door and two 7-11 close by, which make for good lunch options. The town shuts down around 8pm and there is not much to do after dark. 

The lake view rooms are the highlight 

Near the Pier and food available around too. Coffee bean also round the corner. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are quite ok but relative small. As for the breakfast, also quite normal compare to other hotels.

We just ate at the restaurant. For some reason at a hotel in a major tourist area, the staff spoke absolutely zero English. Like, not even Google Translate, no effort whatsoever to communicate. This resulted in a lot of difficulty ordering and confusion when they asked us to pre-pay at our table immediately after the waitress took our order. I asked if my meal was a set or only the prawns. The waitress looked like she knew the answer but couldn't answer.
It wasn't a set as a suspected, but the real kicker was it was complete garbage. "Deep fried" prawns that seemed to be just rolled in some bread crumbs and a ton of pepper to disguise their lack of taste. The food was room temperature so clearly not freshly cooed. All our food came out suspiciously quickly. Extremely overpriced. We went to the 7/11 to get better food afterwards.

Terrible food, terrible service

I recommend staying on the lake side so you can enjoy a beautiful view. The rooms are clean, the bathrooms are clean, the decor is not what I expected, but it's also not ugly. The location is excellent, right in front of the harbor where the boats take tourists to the tourist attractions of the area. Don't miss out on the typical delicious dish. In the photos of the hotel one saw a dish that didn't look so big. But in reality it's a delicious meal, excellent presentation, with many dishes, and huge... I think that was one of the most memorable.

The best: the traditional dish that is delicious and huge!

We were on a three-week vacation in Taiwan for our son's graduation from the military academy and this hotel was the first in a very good hotel with rooms overlooking the lake.
