A very enriching experience led by a professional guide who drove us 5 in her own for 3 hours and a half to the forest, the waterfalls, the local culture explaining in depth what we observed.

The rooms was very clean, staff is amazing. Monkeys are jumping from off the terrace, organic coffee in the room. Clean bedsheets and towels which is rare in Tanzania, food is delicious at the restaurant. 

Best hotel with Mountain  Kilimanjaro view

My stay at Kaliwa Lodge was wonderful. Situated in a lush green environment, Kaliwa offers a perfect escape from everyday life. The view from the deck is breathtaking, with a clear view on the Kilimanjaro. The breakfast is delightful, with a lot of options, and even brown bread! (Difficult to find in Tanzania..) The dining consisted of a lovely three-course meal, offering different options everyday. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The room was beautiful, clean and more than comfortable. All in all, Kaliwa Lodge is a real hidden gem in Moshi, and I would definitely recommend going there!

Wonderful lodge

Kaliwa lodge was everything we dreamed of and more! First of all, the location of Kaliwa lodge is bliss. Right between the banana plantations, in the jungle at the foot of the Kilimanjaro is where you find the lodge. You feel like you are right inside of nature, eventhough you're not so far from Moshi! Secondly, the staff was extremely kind and made sure everything we wished for was fulfilled. The food that was served was unbelievable: the breakfast had a huge variety of fruits, yoghurt, muesli, eggs, pancakes and more.. Really anything you could wish for. The daily menu offered a 3 course meal of lovely food with a local twist (with which they served really tasty wine!).
Overall, I would definitely recommend staying at Kaliwa Lodge, it was a blissful stay in a lush environment!

Kaliwa lodge: an unforgettable stay in a lush, green environment with Kilimanjaro views!

Kaliwa Lodge provided us with an unfailingly superb experience. The actual structure, is clean, simple and luxuriant with sleek and comfortable rooms. Their facilities are spotless. Their garden is GORGEOUS, lush and replete with beautiful wildlife. However no guest will leave without telling you that the highlight of the lodge is its deck, which provides a sweeping view of a deep forested valley and of course, looming Kilimanjaro.

Kaliwa is also excellently staffed with a team of professional and friendly people who clearly take pride in the services they provide. My congratulations go out especially to Lina and her team of chefs, providers of a breakfast so fine I still restlessly dream about it.

Unparalleled Experience and Beauty 

A friend and I were at the lodge for 3 nights before our Kilimanjaro hike and one day afterward.  We found our stay relaxing and enjoyed having our evening wine down on the deck overlooking Kilimanjaro mountain - what a view!. 
The staff were super friendly and the food was great - we particularly loved the curry dinner and the breakfast was expansive with eggs of your choice,  cereals, crepes, LOTS of fresh fruit and homemade breads and jams. So yummy!
Yes as mentioned in another review the rooms are small and the shower head is slightly oddly placed and some water pools but this is hardly a big deal.  The nets were not difficult to navigate and were actually just well fitted which is what you want in a mosquito netting.
I highly recommend this relaxing gem as a place to stop between safaris or treking Kili.

Relaxing Oasis

I was longing for a time-out after three intense month of field work at Kilimanjaro. Among the many choices of places at Kilimanjaro that would allow me to relax and recharge, I decided for Kaliwa Lodge, and this was the best decision I could have taken: relaxing in the hammock on the dock, being immersed in the greenery of the rainforest and the sounds of the many birds, and enjoying a stunning view on Kibo and Mawenzi (while the sun was rising). In addition, the coffee was outstanding (not watery at all but how you would expect coffee to taste!) and the food very delicious. I can’t complain about the service at all: all staff was friendly and supportive throughout my entire stay. Asanteni sana, Kaliwa Lodge team!

A place to recharge and nurture the soul

The room was nice, modern and clean. The hotel staff was friendly and helpfull. The food was fresh and good. But the best part was the terrace and the view! You can see the Kilimanjaro and rain forrest from there.

Very good place to relax before/after hiking Kili!

Kaliwa Lodge is a gem set on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. While the weather was not cooperative for the majority of my stay, the last day revealed the stunning view of snow covered slopes all the way up to Uhuru peak. Even apart from the view, the setting is idyllic and peaceful, like a zen retreat. Service was incredibly attentive, and food was delicious.
