The Kilimanjaro trekking company we used uses the Outpost as it's midrange priced hotel to stay upon arrival for one's trek.  We arrived late and tired from US.  It backs up to a residential neighborhood with dogs that bark all night and a club that plays techno music into the wee hours of the night.  We got no sleep the first night.  We slept better the second night on the eve of our trek, but still barking dogs and techno music.  Upon return from summiting Kili, we were so tired that we'd have slept through 4th of July fireworks.  The rooms are pretty basic, but spacious.  The beds were incredibly comfortable.  Bathrooms were huge, but a little basic.  But what made our stay so enjoyable was the staff.  Everyone was so friendly, polite, and accommodating.  The restaurant is also quite good and so inexpensive.  We stayed another night after we returned from safari and the place almost felt like home.  Outpost is no thrills ... if you want luxury, go elsewhere, but otherwise you'll enjoy your stay.  

Slow Start, but grew on us and we loved it!

I stayed here before and after a Serengeti safari. It's a beautiful lodge with large, pleasant rooms with huge showers, a nice bar/restaurant with a good choice of food and drink, great breakfasts, and a friendly and helpful staff.

Beautiful lodge in a quiet but central part of Arusha

This is a great place to start your Safari journey! I stayed here for 1 night before heading to my Safari and 2 nights before heading back home. The staff is very friendly and accommodating with great meals for breakfast (buffet style), lunch, and dinner. The rooms are great and comfortable. I recommend bringing ear plugs for sleeping if you are a light sleeper as outside noise during the night time can be a little too loud such as dogs barking or motorcycles driving by. 

A great place to start your Safari Journey

Stayed here at the beginning and end of our safari trip because it's close to the airport. It has a jungle, earthy, nature feel despite being in the middle of Arusha, which I appreciate! There's a swimming pool, great dinner options, and a stellar breakfast buffet (the French toast is delicious!). The rooms are fine and do have a mosquito covering, but one of the showers didn't have hot water when we ran it. But the other room did! 

One thing to note is that light sleepers may want to bring earplugs since there are dogs that are quite loud and active at night. I used earplugs and was totally fine. 

Nature feel in Arusha

We loved this little hotel made up of rustic rooms in the middle of a beautiful patio. The visit of the monkeys who invest the garden according to their mood has finally won the hearts of the children! The hotel is finally not far from the center where we joined in tuk tuk for 30,000 shillings. The little dej was very cozy, the dinner was excellent, for lunch, we opted for the adventure by eating at the central market.

The Outpost Lodge is comfortable a and affordable.. Rooms are spread throughout the complex with central dining. Ours was well equipped and thoroughly serviced. Staff were very welcoming and attentive providing a great service.  A varied menu should satisfy everyone’s taste. Our first  visit to this style of accommodation enhanced the  experience, I will have no hesitation to return.

Comfortable Lodge

We stayed one night before we left for the safari the next day. It's in Arusha, a city worth seeing, better if you're accompanied by a local guide.

A welcoming arrival

This location was the place we stayed for both our first night and our last night on Safari. I'd give it a "very good", by African standards. We liked the people. The rooms were nice and the beds were comfortable. The first night, we got in late and just went to bed--and were gone the next morning. The last night, we had some more time. Food was good (the coconut chicken with pasta was good and the beef samosas were even better)--bar service was friendly. Food portions were large. Coffee is really good. Wifi was ok in the restaurant area (you could get it in some rooms but not all). We did have an issue with a power outage on our return trip (and oddly enough had another one back home in the US the next weekend--it's not just Africa that has these issues). The staff did their best with that. Note that water pressure in showers, etc., is lower than in the US. That's due to the area being semi-arid, and water is at a premium.  Always get bottled water, and don't trust the tap. I'd not hesitate to stay here again. It is a little noisy at times, even though we were away from the main road, as Arusha has grown to be a big city.

Good Start to our Safari

A perfect spot to gather oneself before or after a safari or business trip to northern Tanzania.

Safe and secluded yet vibrant and close to all the amenities of downtown Arusha.

Friendly and very helpful staff, together with absolutely excellent local management, adds to the pleasure and sense of security which one feels in this little oasis of lush greenery, and lasting values. So important these days, especially  in a part of the old, old world that has begun ‘developing’ so very fast indeed.

Very good and very personal very smiling and competent everything is fine luggage is well kept and this hotel has formed our oasis between Kilimanjaro ascent and safari then on our return
