Lovely, well cared for Lodge, situated in a forest, yet with a beautiful view of the plain below.  The Lodge rooms are situated in rondavels surrounded by lush green gardens full of colourful flowers. The rooms have balconies with great views. Sighting of monkeys is the bonus!!!
The rooms are spacious and clean and the beds comfortable.
There is a pool and a restaurant.
The Lodge is situated outside Udzungwa park,but, there is a waterfall in the forest nearby and we went on a very enjoyable 1 hr walk to the waterfall and back. Our guide was a really pleasant and knowledgeable young hman. The tour was arranged by the hotel. We did the easy walk, but, there is a longer route for those interested.
Staying here is a very good option for those driving between Iringa and Morogoro.The turn off is just before Mikumi Park

In a lush green forest with wonderful views of plain below!!

A 5-star rated hotel in the middle of the rainforest. A perfect destination for relaxing and enjoying the beauty. The rooms - neat and tidy and the hospitality - just a phone call away which is worth recommending! The chefs were on their toes to make us vegetarian food which they dint disappoint - perfect and delicious! 
Overall an amazing experience.

Ideal for Nature Lovers!

Last June we stayed here for two nights, it's fantastic! Nicely situated in the forest with large rooms with great views. Breakfast and dinner are nice, but a bit expensive. Don't expect to get Wi-Fi or a good cellphone reception, so it's nice and peacefull. The walk to the waterfall is nice, not very long and with nice views and a guide who knows a lot about the vegetation growing near the path.

Fantastic location with great views

We stayed with family and friends and though its far with little stretch of muddy road but it's worth it quite and peace. 

Food was good as the chef made a good effort to cater us being vegetarian and very cooperative.  All the staff are friendly and try to assist although English is the problem and bit slow. 

Rooms are good but with lots of bugs and ants...but one should expect while you are in the forest. Pool is nice and clean.  Overall it's a nice place to stay and enjoying the surrounding attraction of sanje falls.

This place is far away from the main road and secluded so if you are looking for peace and quiet, this is definitely the place to go.

Getting there requires your attention as the last 13 Km’s is on dirt track, not well maintained so take your care and time. The worst bit of the road is the last 20 meters to actually get toe the reception are once through the resort gate, so ensure you have a vehicle with sufficient ground clearance.

The rooms are basic, but clean and appointed well. Plenty of room to stretch out. 

The restaurant serves a good breakfast and dinner with a few choices each day. However most of the staff don’t understand English too well so getting your orders across takes time and does not work all the time.

About a 20 minutes drive to the Udzungwa falls national park ranger station where you have to check in and pay your entrance fees then you can visit the falls. 

About a 90 minute drive to Mikumi National Park for game drives. Self drive is highly recommended to save you money.

The lodge tries its best to be the best. The staff are welcoming and friendly, but at times communication is a bit difficult because of their poor understanding of English, or our poor grasp of Swahili.

Cellphone service is sporadic at best and the WiFi never worked, which was a blessing as we were able to spend some good family time together.

This is definitely the place to get away from everything and to just relax by the pool.


Secluded away from it all.

You may have to wait for 30 minutes for a fried egg and a sausage, but you will be happy to do the waiting surounded by a tropical  forest and and all the serenity that goes with it.  The hike to the falls is fantastci and a swim in the pool is glorious - the very cold water cools tired feets and replenishes your body!! 

Food services are slow ... this is a hotel with no food warmers (if they have them, they did not use them when I was there) so be ready to eat cold food!  Used to get my drinks from the bar myself, it was faster.

The majority of the waiters are students in a Catering and Hospitality College  adjacent to the lodge so this may explain the slow service.

Beautiful and serene ... lousy F&B service

We stayed in June 2018, cant describe enough how lovely and green the surroundings are. The climate was cool and they have a lovely waterfall, just takes about 15 mins one way to the waterfall. The staff were very polite. The location is also shared by a college of tourism. Highly recommend for a quiet and relaxful holiday.

Beautiful surroundings

First of all, this wasn’t my first stay at this Hotel. I came to the same place about 4 weeks earlier with a friend of mine, because we made an internship in a hospital not to far away. The first time, everything was alright, we paid 120$ per night for our room with half board, which was decent for what you get. What was very strange though was that we were the only guests and we stayed there at a weekend. The food was nice and the staff very welcoming. 
The rooms are nice and tidy, with a balcony that lets you enjoy sunset and from where you can watch the monkeys. 
When I came back with my family afterwards the people at the reception told us that the rooms were 240$ (120$ per person). When I told them that this was not the price I paid last time they said that there must have been a mistake, which to me seems pretty strange. 
Again as the first time we were the only guests in the whole hotel. They told us that soon the season starts, which is the same they told me and my colleague before. It is kind of depressing to sit alone in a restaurant with many tables for dinner. However what was really strange was that there were 2 waitresses and 2 chefs in the kitchen and we still had to wait an hour to get our food. 
On one of the days we stayed there, tanesco (electricity grid company) was building something, which meant that there was no power at all for the whole day. Even though the brochure says that in times of power outages they will turn on the generator, they will not! 
TV has one Channel only and it‘s such a bad signal, I‘d rather not put a TV in the rooms.

Overall the lodge is nice and in great surroundings, but the pricing is just ridiculous. The buildings will in my opinion need some renovations soon. 

Surroundings are nice, but....

The one that signs this review has been a guest at Udzungwa Falls Lodge for several weeks. Hope you take that into account when reading this. 

In my views, quality of the hotel is pretty poor. At least for European standards. I use them as a benchmark, not only because It is mainly to what I am used to but also because the price they charge you is what you could pay in Europe for a pretty nice, at least 4-star hotel. 

While It is true that the environment surrounding the hotel It is pretty nice, the hotel itself lacks of very basic needs in the 21st century. 

- There is no Internet at all. Even with your local SIM card you will struggle and waste your time just to try to chat through e.g. Whatsapp

- There is no televisión. Well to be honest There is a 20inch TV located 4meters away from the bed. Moreover, you could enjoy Up to 5 different channels in Kiswahili. 

- There is no Gym. Unless a small messy room with no ventilación could be called Gym. Just 2 static bikes (think my Grandma had the same model 15 years ago) and a bunch of weights.

- lets talk about food. You will have always a choice of 3main courses. 99% of the choices are made from pork (also know as charcoal) chicken (small and no meat at all) and beef. Soup+main courses+fruits at the very affordable price of 15$. Drinks not included.

- Access Road to the hotel I can bet is worse than entrance to hell

Apart from what has been already said. People working at the hotel are pretty kind and for sure they try their best.
