Spent 3 nights at here whilst on safari. The rooms are beautiful, wood carved beds, balconies overlooking the Serengeti. The staff are superb, so friendly and helpful. The chefs at breakfast always greeted us well, ready to cook our eggs with a smile and a joke. The picnic lunches were really good and also catered for gluten intolerances. The food overall was the best of all of the Serena lodges we stayed in during our trip. Overall amazing time. Thank you Serena Serengeti

Great stay in middle of the Serengeti

What began as a long-shot discussion amongst family to someday go on an African Safari turned rapidly into reality when things evolved, and tickets were purchased.  All of a sudden, a group of 6 of us were going ~ for real !!  For 13 days !!  Flying into Kenya, overland to Tanzania and back to Kenya for our return flights home.

All reservations for travel and stay in Kenya and Tanzania were arranged as an all-inclusive package by ASDL, our tour operator…  all we had to do was get our visas, air tickets and the essential vaccinations.

Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge in Tanzania is built in the same style as the Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort and is just as delightful.  The lodge is located atop a hill, overlooking vast tracts of the Serengeti spread out below, with expansive views of the hills and valleys surrounding this site.  The public areas are beautifully laid out, in small and large interconnecting structures, with covered linking passages and flowing pools filled with water lilies and other plants between them… and loads of loudly chorusing bullfrogs ~ quite a cacophonous choir !  The lounges and dining areas spill seamlessly into one another, and onto a surrounding covered verandah, which serves as a seating and dining space, and overlooks an outdoor infinity-edge pool.  The pool is a wonderful place to soak, cool and watch the brilliant, dazzling sunset… quite an unparalleled, relaxing experience at the end of a long day chasing the dust and heat of the Serengeti..!!  The pool area apparently also offers saunas and massages (available for an additional fee, of course) to soothe away aches and pains from the bumpy trails. 

The guestrooms are arranged four to a 2-story unit, spread along the edge of the same hill with views across the vast valley below.  Wildlife and birds roam freely throughout the property and surroundings.  One particularly striking bird running all around the grounds is a variety of Toucan, with a much less prominent and colorful bill than the hornbill version.

Meals are generally served “buffet” style, and are all-inclusive, with the exception of dinks.  Drinks are extra, and pricey !  The spread is extensive: offering many choices of non-veg, veg, vegan and some unfathomable cuisines.  But desserts are blah !  They should concentrate on the simple ones…  trifle, caramel custard, and the like.  

All in all.. ENTIRELY worth the trip, and the money.  Thank you, Gentlemen !

Africa !!!  The dark continent…. of Tarzan, Phantom, The Jungle Book, legends, dreams, wildlife, imaginations run amuck.

Where do I start. Throughout our travels we have never had this kind of Customer Service! like we had at this lodge. If you want to celebrate a big birthday or any kind of travel, where attention to detail is key, this place checks off all the boxes! From management all the way down to every person we encountered we couldn't have asked for a better Birthday celebration. Thank you and especial mentions to Barakael who was our server at birthday dinner, Joshua executive chef, Ebeneszar always greeted us at restaurant, Emmanuel server at breakfast and dinner who made sure we had the same table every day and assistant manager John Massa . Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this  an epic trip of a lifetime.  Some pictures below of wonderful staff who took care of us and beautiful scenery. I wish TripAdvisor would allow videos because I would love to post the video of everyone who sang happy birthday to me in Kiswahili and English, it was so genuine and  heartfelt. 
When traveling to the Serengeti this will definitely be our lodge of choice.

Serena Serengeti 10 + costumer service!

A wonderful place, with friendly and helpful people who do everything they can to provide us with an excellent experience. The hotel is beautiful, the cottages where the rooms are located are unique and allow us to feel integrated into nature but in comfort. Magical views, great food... everything you could wish for and more.

Everything you want and more on Serengueti 

We stayed at this property for one night. The room was comfortable and spacious. The beds were netted which is appreciated. Furnishings were basic but that was completely fine - there was everything we needed.

The grounds of the property are very lush and beautiful. Lots of wildlife around - including zebras on the front lawn when we were leaving very early for our balloon pickup. 

The staff were friendly and the welcoming performance was very nice. They had live music in the bar area and the seating there was comfortable and welcoming.

The food choices at dinner were fantastic. Some of the best we had on our whole trip. The only issue was that there were a lot of people in the serving areas and no organization so people were going in different directions and it was chaotic. 

This lodge was the largest that we stayed at and we found it to be very busy after relatively quiet stays at the other stops.

Would recommend.

Nice Larger Lodge

Incredible. No other words for it. Incredible staff, view, wildlife, food, rooms and feel. 

Pool with a view, great food every day, kind staff from check in to check out, wildlife walking around the grounds, clean and comfortable rooms and a wonderful positive vibe.

Simply perfect

Serengeti’s Serena Safari Lodge is an outstanding retreat, more than only a hotel! Managing director John is not only the head of a team that has „ hospitality“ taken into its heart. John and his team „take care of you like a baby“. The quality of the accommodation, the African character,  the quality of the meals and drinks is hard to find anywhere else. The chef in the kitchen made sure that dietary wishes were fully fulfilled. What strives most is the focus of the staff: the guest is the king. Whilst enjoying a sun-downer in or at the pool you watch from top of the hill the scenery of the Serengeti. You better stay 4-5 days, we only had 3 nights.

Outstanding quality

Beautiful rustic lodge featuring rondavel-style houses, and our room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the trees / grassland. Note that there are upper and lower level rooms in each house. This is at a great location in the Serengeti – highlights on our game drives included a hippo pool, lush forests that elephant families traversed and grasslands where we saw all three types of big cats. The staff was friendly and always happy to help, which was appreciated since we had complicated trip logistics. My family and I had an excellent stay overall.

Beautiful hotel in the Serengeti

Hotel is very nice, with a best possible location, overlooking the crater. Nice rooms, you even get hairdryer, which is a rare commodity in Tanzania. Food was very good - many choices, tasty. The only real complain is abot the prices. Although all lodges in Tanzania are very expensive, this one costed us 1400 USD for two days /two persons sharing a room with  meals (without drinks included). There is no pool or gym, but they organise "before dinner events", like Massai dance, etc... TIP: it can be quite cold at this altitude, so do bring some worm clothes with you !!!

Nice, but overpriced

Great hotel in a central location in the Serengeti. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The lodge itself is classy, with all the expected elements: great buffet meals, Maasai dancers, pool, grounds. Special thanks to Esther and Baraka. The only downside was a very pushy employee who was trying to carry our entire groups luggage, and who took too long, and was only doing it for tip. Everything else was great.
