At the time of visiting it was very quiet and this felt like an atmosphere that the locals tried to preserve. The staff were very helpful: boat arrangements, move on accommodation help, menu suggestions etc. Ne cooked wonderful food and always smiling.
The accommodation was great. Netted windows as well as mosquito net. Flush toilet and good shower. Regularly cleaned by the lovely Mem. 
The beach is kept clean and is the gateway to some wonderful snorkeling. 
We'll be back.

Loved it!

If you are looking for 5 star or a luxury stay this resort and indeed island is probably not for you. The rooms are very basic and probably could be cleaner. But what you are paying for is a wonderful location and 22 hour electric. Martin and his mother were both wonderful hosts and could not do enough for their customers. All the staff at the resort were incredibly happy and helpful. 

Lovely staff and location

I got here by my colleague and she reserved the rooms for us with 1700 baht per night, with this rate I thought i c​ould get something out of it. First of all when we landed on the island(actually on the empty spot left near the island)​ by hired speedboat, there was no pier or path to walk to the shore, we must have sailed on small boat and walked in the sea to the shore ourselves. There were no ready room for us, we must wait for their preparation at the reception. Before getting there they told they had everything on the island but with 1700 baht they provide no breakfast, no convenient store(which i assume since it very very small but thought there would be small kiosk i can grab myself)​ but no everything i must buy from the resort with double price rate comparung to the mainland. i could carry the portable stove and cook myself if i knew but they trapped us there. Electricity is gone since 6 am evrything shut down. No TV it's ok. No activity provided. It's unable to swim in the sea around morning cuz of small biting plankton, my son got bited all over body and very itchy. We must walk through other resort which was pretty far and through a wood to get some snack. I strongly never ever recommend this place ever. Unreasonable high price and the worst service. Reception doesn't speak Thai but little English. All we enjoyed was just to take photos around.

The worst for service and price but great for the beach

We were first sceptical to book this resort due to the mixed reviews, but in the end we extended our stay to 3 nights. I my opinion the resort is the best option on Koh Wai. 

The Koh Wai Beach Resort on the other side of the island (our second choice) is just too secluded. It is a 40 min steep hike to get from one side to the other. All other resorts didn’t look as clean and well maintained.

You cannot expect much luxus on the island. On Koh Wai you pay for the beautiful view, the quiet and the layed back atmosphere. The climate seemed to me a little cooler and more agreeable than on Koh Chang and Koh Mak. But could be also due to the constant nice breeze.

The Pankarang Resort was clean, the moskito net didn‘t have any holes, the air conditioning was working, the staff super motivated to help and the food in the restaurant was fine (ca. 100-200 baht per dish). Only between 15-17h they shut down the electricity generator. Or when they run out of gas. There is only cold showers available.

The daily visitors came every day between 10-17 with big boats but luckily they stayed away from the beach. It’s different at the Paradise resort where they land directly on the beach and the whole beach is swamped with them. In front of the Pankarang we were never more than 6 people on the beach. There are chairs and beach chairs available. 

There is beautiful snorkeling in the coral reefs on the beach, fishing and kayaking. We really enjoyed relaxing on this beautiful island.



Best hotel option on Koh Wai in my opinion

Really terrible stay . Booked for x2 nights and only stayed x1 night . Misleading pictures of the “resort” obviously taken years ago . Worryingly there were men right outside our hut at 5 in the morning . Most of the place is a crumbling mess . Nothing works full stop. Not even the kayak !  No staff running the place . The owner has not spent a penny on the place in years and it showed. Couldn’t wait to leave . So sad to see as the beach was paradise !

Do not visit , awful

What? How they can charge money for that? Really terrible ... Food in the restaurant is not fresh, bungalows are really terrible. I wonder that they are standing, they are very destroyed. Beaches are full of plast and other mess... 

Dont book a room here! 

If you would like to visit Ko Wai with average price and average room but beautiful view and cleaned sea, I recommend you to visit here. 

Even though you won't get too much facilities but when compare with others, this one is ok

Besides, they reserve corals and have clear water. Also many spicies of fish. 

Nice friendly staff and very helpful.They have been trying to educated every people about the sea&corals and they still do it these day with love and passion that is why me and my bf love here.

most terrible hut we ever slept in. they did not want to sell us a bungalow, although there were a lot empty ones. shower is a pipe from the wall. during the nightime they run a generator without exhaust pipe, nice and noisy. this "resort" is not maintained for many years. in the restaurant you must ask if they service you. not a single person had a smile on the face. a no go area!!!

never go there! be warned!

We went here for 2 nights and payed 2.400Baht/night for air conditioned room.

We have been disappointed how less we got for our money.

- air condition is barely working and can't get much colder than 2 degree less than outside temperature. 
-Garden area could use a little attention, does not look treated well
- no shoe gel or shampoo provided

All in all, it is overpriced and the room is unpleasant to stay in. You can find much better options.

Old and scruffy bungalows

We were booked at Koh Wai Beach resort but a week before our arrival we were notified that there had been storm damage and the resort was closed. We had booked through Agoda and they quickly arranged accommodation for us at Pakarang. We were in a beachfront aircon bungalow with the sea literally just over a little pathway. There isn't much of a beach, especially at high tide but the sea is clear and warm with a reef just off the beach. In fact, one can see fish even when standing waist deep in the water. The snorkelling was very good (we are amateurs so seasoned snorkelers may have different opinions). We saw parrot fish, striped and spotted fish and several large shoals of fish. We loved the many neon coloured giant clams. There is a lot of hump coral but some lovely spots of brain coral, sea anemones and the famous blue coral.
The pier has been damaged by a storm and so we were dropped on the beach. When we left a rowing boat took us out to the ferry for transfer. The rooms are fairly basic - hardish bed, cold water shower, no fridge, no safe. However, we found it adequate for our needs. Airconditioning was provided by generator electricity and this malfunctioned several times but was fixed within a reasonable time. One morning my husband woke up covered in bites though I was not. We asked to change rooms and this was dealt with swiftly and we had no problems after that.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. After 6 days there we felt like family. Lisa and Victor came and chatted and provided wifi in the restaurant by using their cellphones as a hub. The food was good though not spectacular but one has to remember that everything has to be brought in from the mainland.
A wonderful spot for a quiet holiday.
