We found this a very good base for getting out and about around Chiang Rai. We were able to walk to most of the city's sights from here. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean, the staff were all very friendly even though they did not speak much English they always had a smile. There was plenty of places close by where you could eat including the place next door, althougha bit more pricey than other places it did have excellent views of the river.

Very nice comfortable hotel

This large modern hotel is set amidst trees and gardens. The room was large, clean, comfortable, with a good bathroom, plenty of working space, a view of nothing but trees and the sound of birds all day and frogs at night. In-room wifi was fast. The bed was hard (I like that) and the bedding was very toasty on a relatively chilly night in December. The management is friendly. They don't even ask you to pay on arrival, only when you checkout, which is a nice gesture, with no interminable checks as you leave to make sure you didn't raid the mini-bar or steal the TV. The downside of trees, birds, and frogs is that the hotel is some distance from downtown, with a long dark walk to food, etc. But if you have your own wheels, at 550 baht, this is fantastic bargain. I'd definitely go back again.

A great bargain in Chiang Rai

We arrived in the Koh Loi hotel in the afternoon and stopped here on our way to the Lao border. The employee behind the desk was not very friendly but a lack of speaking English is often the reason in entire Asia. Chiang Rai itself is not really worth visiting but for a half a day (or a day) it was fine. The accomodation seems quite new, was clean and spacious. The hotel misses a soul more or less but for our purpose it was good. One last remark; the matresses are almost concrete :-) extraordinary hard.

A fine accomodation with clean, specious rooms

This place was cheap and I didn't expect much from it... I was pleasantly surprised to find the room to be freshly painted, large, and very accommodating... Wifi was easily accessed and the bathroom was huge for what you normally get in thai backpacking style accommodation... The staff were friendly and even had their son take us into town (5 minute walk) in his personal car... I highly recommend this hotel if you're visiting chiang rai
