A welcome drink on a hot hike by a lovely lady, looked a great place to stay along with the lazy sleeping cat made for a great atmosphere.

Can’t comment on the accommodation side but if it’s as good as the hospitality for a drink I think you can’t go wrong!

Great for a Drink

I stayed at Vanara Bungalows for three nights and was really happy with the place. JF, the hotel manager, was really helpful in getting transportation from and to Bangkok and Aoom, the restaurant manager, was lovely. The food was great and there is a choice of beers and cocktails so you can chill by yourself or with friends. 

The bungalows are clean and it is quiet at night so you can rest after partying at the neighboring beaches.

Great place and great staff

The downside is that it's only a large, well-maintained area, in a quiet place, that looks nice.... The downside is that the hotel is cheap.... The downside is that it's a very small bungalow.... There's a small disruption to the water heater.... There's no cleaning... The downside is that it's a really bad place.... It's a toilet (it doesn't wash that it's immersed in it from the first, second, or even 5th time, but it's going in a pipe very slowly).... The downside is that it's broken and the only shelf to be sent in the bathroom....

Objectively, it's a bad idea.

We didn't want to get a lodging right at Lonely Beach to have our rest at night. So we decided to go to the Tarzan Island Resort. The price was 500/night (750 with AC) okay. The ambience of the bungalows was very nice, but as usual in Thailand, it's the little things that bother you a little bit. In the bathroom there were spiders and ants. I'm not so busy here now but I can imagine that this really bothers other people. To move on, a roll is actually a must.

All right, that's all right.

Positive: Cute bungalows, arranged around a beautiful green area, the jungle is right at your backyard. Quiet, inspite proximity to street. Nightly live music (1 person) for about 2 hours which does not disturb the bungalows. In house restaurant. Real windows in the bungalows, sealed. Friendly staff.

Negative: Far from beach, but close to street with frequent collectivos (taxis). Motorbike recommended. The bungalows are very small, there is hardly space for a suitcase, let alone open it. Hard mattress, as usual in Thailand.

We had prebooked 5 nights at 800 bt/night. 700 bt was quoted if we would extend.

Good value

I was really disappointed with everything. Nobody cleaned our room for all the 5 days, changed laundry or towels, empty bin etc. There were just one man who greets us every day, the rest of employees looked like they don't speak english and they are not interested about anything. The girl at the reception was playing games and watching films all the time. WiFi is just at the reception, sometimes even no there. The food is overpriced, accomodation as well, very very much! Just two positive things - the man who played piano every evening and little cute puppies that made every day better.

Horrible terrible the worst!

The service were good sometimes and bad sometimes. Some good entertaiment at the nights in the restaurant. Our bungalow was, what to say... we got ants in our "shower", and screaming geckos at the nights. But it was ok...

Ok...

No service, dirty water, we didn't use water - just shower, all family went ill (5 pers.) - I booked via agoda for 4 nights but we left after 2. Do not stay there.
Very important stuff lady playing all the time with mobile and didn't respond on our requests. WIFI so poor - SMS ok but no uploads possibel. 
My children were so happy when we went to better location. Later back in Germany I ask them about our stay at Tarzen by do not want to talk about.

Do not stay there!!!!

After being chased by a band of monkeys at a hotel nearby, the Tarzan was a welcome spot to regroup and heal the wounds inflicted in the attact.  The management was very helpful and they actually had some good music in the restaurant at night.  The owner helped secure a scooter and it was a great deal and ran well.  Would stay here again if I ever find myself in Ko Chang.

Clean ,friendly , convenient, and no monkeys!

My friends and I spent about 5 days in this place at the end of December, the choice was based on the proximity to the sea and the cost and the capacity to accommodate 10 people. We ended up choosing Tarzan island, which we did not regret. We lived in a bungalow, perhaps the best place like this one we stayed in Thailand, while the cost was at the same level as other hotels of this plan visited on this trip. The bungalows were cozy, clean, although on the last day we found a cockroach in the bed, shower and toilet in the room consisting of concrete walls and floors, which is certainly not very nice. The beach is within walking distance, but we only went there once, because we went to the beaches and the dining area with a cleaner.
