Nest Sense Resort 

According to our research (and it was thorough), there aren’t many hotels on Koh Chang that offer this level of quality for your stay. Nest Sense is officially a three-star hotel, but what it delivers goes well beyond that. Yes, it’s a small property, but that’s part of its charm – a boutique hotel, quietly nestled in nature and run by genuinely kind staff who are always smiling and helpful. Please do not hesitate to ask housekeeping for additional hangers, different pillows (the choice isn’t huge, but we were able to swap our harder pillows for softer ones), or anything else you might need. Our villa’s interior is simple, minimalist and very clean, and this is more than made up for by the breathtaking view from the private pool. On the upper level, by the restaurant and reception, there is another, larger pool, which is also beautifully designed. Breakfast is not a buffet but à la carte: you choose your breakfast dishes from a set menu (mainly egg dishes and pancakes, and you can pick two), and in addition you’re offered a small selection of fruit, yoghurt, toast, jam, plus tea and coffee. The only real point for improvement for us was the coffee. The filter coffee served at breakfast was unfortunately really not good, and in general we found it quite difficult to get tasty, high-quality coffee in Thailand. It would be fantastic if this lovely little hotel could invest in a proper coffee machine and offer real bean-to-cup coffee in the morning. For coffee, however, we found a great solution that we can highly recommend: just a few minutes’ drive away is the hotel SYLVAN Koh Chang, which has recently opened a modern, super cosy café, Sylvie Cafe, with a stunning view over the bay and islands. Do stop by for a really good latte or another drink – and with a bit of luck, you might even spot the hornbill that lives in the majestic trees surrounding the hotel.
