This year was our third time at La Paloma Lanta , Rene and his family are perfect hosts on hand for any problems and a little chat, but leaves you alone to enjoy the fantastic views of the beach . I have stayed in both of the two studies are both well equipped for your stay , bathroom with shower ,toilet and basin quite compact . They have a big bed quite hard but I like that . The air con is very good and so is Wifi, there is also safe and settee . But the best thing about La Paloma is the view you wake up to and the amazing sunsets you see . There is no getting up at 6am to claim your sun beds like some larger resorts you have 4 all to your self !! and 2 plastic chair and little table and two chairs under veranda., 2 sun umbrellas , table and outside shower . You do get a little road noise , but you soon get used to it because you are on one of the best beaches on Ko Lanta it's a good trade off. Although the studios are side by side you still have your privacy. You can step down straight on the beach from the studios and can walk to several restaurants in your bare feet perfect after watching the sunset with a cool Chang , bar Richey is worth a look . Next door is a good place to rent a scooter off Mr Pong , there is 7 11 and Tesco Lotus to get some supplies. I'm sure we will be back to see Rene again !!! 

Third time at La Paloma Lanta 

My husband and I stayed at La Paloma in October 2015. We’ve taken way too long to write a review, but this place has stayed on our minds so much that we knew we had to write one to get the word out that it’s a great place. In fact, it’s where we got engaged!

Simple put, La Paloma is a nondescript diamond in the rough. Bathed in bright yellow paint and decorated indoors with impeccable taste, it is the perfect quiet hideaway for a couple or small family. Right on the road at its entrance, it opens onto the beach at its rear, and thoughtfully arranged lawn furniture and décor gives the place even more of a private feel than you already get for being in a small resort. With a kitchenette, a comfortable living space, a patio and two raised sections with lounge chairs on sand, there’s space outside for several people, as well as many options for just a few.

Without the frills of a larger resort with complimentary breakfast in an on-site restaurant and bar, La Paloma place offers privacy, comfort and direct access to the beach, all for a lower price than you’d find at a resort offering comparable amenities. The establishments nearby offer everything you could ever want to eat or drink. With just three rooms, this resort is more like a stay in a bed and breakfast, because the owners – a Swedish man, a Thai woman and their children – live nearby and keep the place up as a family. They won’t be in your space, though – they excel at ignoring you when it’s convenient and being attentive just when you need it.

The beach and surrounding area make up one of the best sites on Koh Lanta. The island has several sections, but overall, it’s still small, and it’s a quiet sort of place that perfectly suits adventurous couples. Klong Nin is La Paloma’s beach, and it’s a long, wide and mostly rockless beach. Nearby is the hippie, backpacker rocky beach with mushroom bars and psytrance décor. To the south is Kantiang Bay with very unique handmade goods shops sitting near the entrance to some resorts and a beautifully rocky and jagged beach.

A hidden gem

Stayed here for 5 nights in April. The owner Rene and his family are so welcoming and friendly. The bungalow is exceptionally clean and huge and has a really lovely kitchen area with everything you would need and opens out on to a beautiful view of the beach with the waters edge 30 footsteps away.   There's loads of restaurants close by and a 7-11 also.  Very quiet place and not a party island, which is why I'd opted to stay there as a solo female traveller of 56.  Lots of trips available, I did the 4 island trip which was fantastic.   I didn't want to leave here

Beautiful place

My friend and I recently stayed here for 4 nights. We walked in off the street and luckily both beachfront units were available, so we booked 2 nights. Our rooms, both identical , faced the ocean..10 steps out the front door and you are on the best beach Lanta has to offer. The room itself is spacious and has everything you need for a comfy stay. Sunsets here are what dreams are made of .We enjoyed it so much we extended our stay another 2 nights. There are many restaurants close by serving awesome Thai and Western cuisine and a 7 slightly up the road for all your grocery needs. Massage shops , fresh fruit shop, medical rooms, money changer..bars...its all here within walking distance.The owner of LaPaloma, Rene, is a fantastic guy, super friendly and obliging, nothing was a problem for him and his lovely wife. 
Just regarding street noise mentioned by a previous contributor..sure it backs onto the road as do other accommodation places along here, and the odd motorbike zips past early hours..however a set of earplugs, which I never travel without, sorts that ! Thanks for your hospitality Rene, especially my birthday cake !

Fantastic Location

After reading all the reviews we expected a luxury apartment ! This is by  no means a luxury  apartment, but  in a Thai style with Thai furniture large room on the beach .. It's also right on the road so there is constant motorbike noise and as we know they have all changed there quiet silencers off their 125 scooters for sports versions so at 5 in the morning if your not wearing ear plugs it will be time to get up. Really really noisy. The patio area is fantastic, loads of beds to sit out on , right on the beach and if it wasn't for the motorbikes all you would hear is the sound of the waves. The only other niggle is the price. $115 or 4000 bht a night . This is top hotel price and the fact it dosnt include breakfast is just ridiculous ! Either the other reviewers are getting this at half what we paid or they have vastly different views on what is luxury. .the room is okay but the surrounding buildings are very untidy. This was not good value for money
