Really Nice place and surroundings. A visit to the village is organized and kids bring you there along with dog Rambo. 
The owner is friendly and provides u with much information. Thanks Johan. 
Food is great and the rooms give you enough comfort with a superb view. 
Great experience 

Located 1hr 30mins from Chiang Rai, Akha Mudhouse is a Unique Resort which features Mud Covered houses. The houses are not entirely made of mud but mud plastered. They have their reasons for using  a mix if materials and i respect them for it. You can see though 2 structures which are made entirely of Mud.

The trip to Akha looks tiring if you will commute so we rented a Car fron Chiang Rai Airport. There are parking spaces where you can leave your car at the Resort

The staff who welcomed us spoke few English. Just enough to get by. She asked us about our dinner plans and offerred their Set Menu for 300baht a person. We were given welcome Tea and after few minutes we were shown to our room.

The room was simple but spacious. Bed was okay, 2 pillows were provided plus blankets. A Toiletry tray can be found on top of the bed. Bathroom was huge but very simple. 

Our dinner was served around 645pm. We were asked to transfer to a mat on the floor where they brought out Set Menu. The food was very good, though there were 2 dishes which were Super Spicy. Be sure to request to tone down the spiciness when booking the Set Menu. 

It was very cold in the morning. The electric fan in the room had no use as the cold air from the outside was seeping into the room. 

I went hiking in the morning and went to an amazing part of the Village. A hill full of pineapple plants, and there was a hut there where you can rest or sleep. Though it is possible to venture further i did not amymore and went back to the resort as we had to leave for Chiang Mai. What made the hike special was that i was accompanied by the resorts dog and puppy. While on the way to the hut the puppy would look back and wait for me while the older dog would lead the way (The puppy disappeared when we were at the hut and i was very worried for her but when we got back to the resort later she was there) I proceeded to go further with the hike but returned back, the older dog had already gone ahead but he returned back when he probably noticed i wasnt there.

Overall it was an amazing experience to live in the Mountains of Northern Thailand, the views were amazing and the people very friendly (they dont know english though). It would probably be a good idea to be at the resort early so you can go hiking and leave late or spend 2 nights but i read some reviews that food was much the same. If you want a one of a kind experience, Akha is for you. 

Perfect night with local guide. I love this place. This is great. Cutes guide will take you around Akha village, guide fee just some snack. Dinner with Khan-tok Akha style. Don't forget to try wine by k'Yohun

Our stay at the Akha Mudhouse was very memorable and Johun and his family were so nice and welcoming! We drove in on a motorcycle in the afternoon – coming from Mae Salong. It’s about 10-12 kilometers so only takes 8-10 minutes drive through lovely countryside. 

Johun gave us a choice of rooms and we chose the double with private bathroom. Very unique and comfortable, along with a lovely view!

Everywhere you look you see an artistic touch on this property. He told us of what he had done (including a village recycling center!, all the varied rooms, veranda etc) in designing and building the rooms and his plans for the place – an added restaurant next! 
We had local tea and looked out at the beautiful view of the valley. We also took an afternoon short hike past the village and into the valley along a ridge that was planted with pineapple. 

Johun offered to prepare a simple dinner for us - since we mentioned that we had a large lunch-  and it was delicious! After dinner, Johun gave us both a “hammer massage.” Very healing and relaxing. 

It was very quiet at night and we slept very comfortably on the queen bed. Breakfast was served upstairs on the veranda looking out to the valley – local coffee, nice omelets and also a rice porridge – both well seasoned and delicious.
Johan sells local crafts and food items from the area – a nice touch! We greatly enjoyed our time with Johan and his family and would return without hesitation.

This place is something quite special. A hotel built from local materials and recycled bottles on the top of a mountain overlooking a glorious valley. It is a family affair, the owner Yohun's sister and mother are in charge of the food which is excellent. His nieces and nephews he is training to be guides around the jungle and local village but until they are trained up his gorgeous dog Rambo is a very willing guide.

Nice village experience 

Long weenkend with Akha

This is my second time at Akha Mud House. My first time was about two years ago when the business was still small. At that time seems the owner was very friendly and nice guy and I always reccomend clients to go there if they have chance to go to Chiang Rai. This time I booked Akha Mud House for my guests and myself but this time I am really disppointed. Firstly, When we arrived at 18.00 pm. the room was not yet ready for my guests even I informed them about my arrival time. For my room, they provided me the room with shared bathroom and they said the room with private bathroom are fully booked!! I called the owner but he said to me to talk with his wife because he said is none of his business and hangup telephone. His wife was not friendly at all. I try to contact the owner many times but he ignore!! It's seems this place is growing and they not really care the customer at all. I will never recommend my guests about this place!!
