We stayed in this hotel for one night on a tour in January 2012.  It sits in the mountains near Chiang Rai.  From the end of a gravel road we took a boat to the other side of a small lake to be picked up by the hotel to take us up the hill to the hotel.  The hotel’s reception area is in a separate building from the rooms, as is the dining area.  There are many stairs to negotiate to go from the room to the dining area.

The room we were in was tired and old.  The walls are painted a yellow-green combination.   The bathroom could use a major renovation.  While the accommodation was acceptable and the setting is beautiful, we were disappointed that the hotel was not modernized and that it offered no amenities (such as coffee or tea making, WiFi or internet in the room).  We had no hot water in the morning for showers. Breakfast was fine – western and local cuisine, but with little choice.  But the food was hot.  Their internet site looked great – but the reality was somewhat disappointing.  The rooms are pricey on their website and not worth the money, except for the setting.  The hotel also has a tea plantation and a winery.

You would need a tour or a driver to find this place.  It is isolated and you would need full board if you stayed here.  There is no village nearby that we could see.  If you are looking for a quiet, isolated vacation away from the bustle of Thailand, then you would probably enjoy this hotel.  It is OK – just OK.

Beautiful views but tired and isolated hotel

The hotel is located on the island and is difficult to access. You have to walk 5 km by road on land (filled with holes) before arriving at the bus that leads to the hotel. Then you have to take a bus that takes you to the top of the island. In all, you have to count a good hour to be in Chiang Rai. The panorama is beautiful, surrounding vineyards, a tea factory. We were forced to bathe at the hotel because of the distance that separates it from the city. The restaurant is good no more. The breakfasts are good but poor. The pool is too chlorinated and the spa is in poor condition. The rooms and the bathroom are also in good condition with a beautiful bathtub. From the distance, the hotel's stones, which makes the rooms, the seating and the view are splendid and empty.

It's a beautiful view, but too far from everything.

Situated in the valley of mae Chang close to Chiang Rai, the wiew from this Resort is so beautiful. The staff is really nice, but do not really understand english, but with a smile....
Breakfast ok. The room are not a the level they should be, but still ok.
