This hotel was really good. The rooms are 600B. they renovated the whole hotel. It had a fridge, free water, free wifi, flat tv, beds are comfortable and staff very helpful. They also spoke a little English. Whenever I'll be back in Nong Khai I'll stay here.

best value

I like this place. It couldn't be more centrally located if it tried. 50 metres to the start of the sprawling market and the low key bars / restaurants / river promenade. Booked on Agoda - no problems with this unlike the earlier review. I do agree that it seems a little petty to charge a 200Bt damage deposit though, that probably wouldn't cover an ashtray, but it was given back to me no fuss at the end of the stay. I extended my stay and it was VERY cheap for the extra days. Nong Khai is a laid back place with an almost seaside air to it by the very nice promenade by the Mekong River. The main man on reception was impeccably polite and very helpful at giving directions / ordering tuk tuks and my onward travel. Rooms are basic but perfectly adequate. The hallways can be a little noisy from the rooms as there is no carpet to muffle any noise but that's a fault of many hotels in the Far East so perhaps a little unfair to criticise. Overall this is 8 out of 10 good value for money. I will definitely stop there again if I return to Nong Khai.

Good Value

Good budget hotel, set 2 blocks back from the river. Though the room resembles a hospital room, it is cheap and you get what you pay for. Having a fridge is a bonus, and the air con, hot water and WiFi works fine. We booked 3 nights through Agoda and upon arrival were required to provide a 200 baht deposit for the key. When we went to check out, reception (whose English was very limited) attempted to tell us that we had only paid 2 nights and would be required to pay for the third. I spoke to who I’m guessing was the Manager on the phone and told her that we had booked and prepaid 3 nights, she said that she would check and then hung up on me. Whilst waiting I was in the process of finding the Agoda confirmation when the lady at reception said everything was OK. Then we had to ask for our 200 baht deposit back, which, to the lady at reception seemed like the hardest thing in the world. I hope that this was merely a mix-up rather than a scam, but just be aware. 

When in Nong Khai You have to rent a bicycle for 50 baht and head to the Sculpture Park called Sala Kaew Koo, it’s about a 20 minute ride away but it is an enjoyable ride along the river for the most part. It’s unforgettable and a minimal 20 baht entry fee. We spent 2 and a half hours there and it was a great experience.

Budget Hotel, you get what you pay for and nothing more...

The hotel is well-located but the reception is horrible. We are group of Thai people and they treated us not so very nice. We asked for extra bed prior the arrival but there was no extra bed for us when checked in. We came back from sight-seeing around the town and found that there was a extra bed for us but they did not provide extra towel. So, we called to ask the reception and she blamed us that we didn't tell her when checked in. Moreover, she told us that she will give us the towel the next morning. We paid for a room and extra bed but we didn't get what we paid for. Try other hotels.

Horrible staff

I had tried to post this on Agoda, but I think they screen out negative reviews. I booked (and paid for) a room with Huan-Lai through Agoda but when I got there they didn't have a room left for me. The management instead put me in a different, cheaper and far sketchier hotel on the outskirts of town. I'm sure this is a nice hotel, but management seemed a bit disorganized. (Also, I'm pretty sure the prices I saw posted in the lobby were the same as those offered on Agoda, so there's no real discount for booking in advance.)
