In Pai Resort

Vicky, the owner of InPai is the most welcoming, lovely woman. Helped with providing a room very last minute, cooking me food and giving me medicine when I had food poisoning. Went completely out of her way to help! The accommodation is in a beautiful location, 10 minutes drive from town, where it is peaceful and relaxing. Great place if you want to escape the crowds of Pai town centre.

I stayed at In Pai resort while doing my 200 hour yoga teacher training next door at Xhale Yoga. 

The resort and the yoga studio are not affiliated, but it is where you will most likely stay if doing the yoga retreat or TTC.

I had a fantastic month, and Bhud is an exceptional teacher. She is very warm, funny, generous, and passionate about her work. I learned a lot not only about yoga asanas, but also about how to live life with more joy and mindfulness. 100% would recommend Xhale yoga retreat!

As for In Pai resort, the bungalow was simple but adequate for my needs. The view from the balcony is great. The staff was kind and offered me rides into town and back to the resort when I needed it. The rooms were cleaned well once a week.

The only things to note were that there is no AC (just a fan) and my hot water in the shower often didn't get hot. There were also many insect friends bunking with me, as they find ways in under the door and through the roofing.

Excellent experience at Xhale Yoga

The first thing to note is that In Pai is not in Pai, it is 5-6 km from Pai town centre - so don't be fooled by the name. If you stay there, you'll need a scooter and be ready to ride that distance on the country roads - some of which are pretty ropey. 
I stayed to attend the yoga retreat next door. The smaller rooms were clean enough but did not have a/c, safe or fridge and my hot water did not work. Nothing to "write home about".
The people seemed nice enough when they we around. The room was cleaned every morning. 
When I come back to Pai, I won't be tempted to stay there because I want the option of walking to the "walking street" and have a few beers without facing a long ride in the dark. 
And there's that dog in the cage - looks very dispirited indeed. 


Okay but not In Pai

We stayed here for our absolutely amazing yoga retreat next door and if you do the all-inclusive 5-day Xhale yoga retreat (highly recommended), this is where you stay, although the retreat and the resort are not affiliated in any way. 
The rooms at the resort are fine. Clean, comfortable, friendly and nice dog (unchained now). Nothing to complain about, until the last day. Sad to report this, but housekeeping skimmed cash from my wallet which was left behind a zipper inside a backpack in the room during those days. Smart enough to not take out all the cash, but just a little bit, hoping it would go unnoticed. Perhaps this trick had worked with previous guests, but it didn't work with me, because I keep note of the exact amount in there. No need to go into the details, but I already suspected the trick during the week and it was confirmed when more disappeared on the last day. 
I of course am to blame for being so careless to leave my wallet in the room in the first place, so I don't want to blame this all on housekeeping. I learned my lesson and paid for it, literally, so have to be grateful for the lesson and it is forgiven. I just hope the money was spent on a good cause like school. 
And at first I didn't want to leave a negative review, just because one person in the resort decided to mess up his/her karma, although I was quite sad about the negative energy it left after those 5 days of bliss. But I do feel the point of reviews is to advice future guests, so here it is. Do enjoy your stay, but don't leave your wallet in your room.

My experience at Xhale Yoga with Bhud was not a good one. it started off badly on the first night when I approached her and she totally dismissed my, medically diagnosed, foot condition, a bone deformity, that requires specially made insoles on a daily basis and without which I am in constant pain. when I explained that it was difficult for me to balance in bare feet as my feet do not touch the floor as they would without the condition she told me to show her and then informed me that I have an 'i can't attitude. I felt offended by this as I have 2 medical conditions called fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue which, 8 months ago,  rendered me bed ridden and on high dosages of pan killers. It is testament to my 'I can' attitude that I am now medication free and able to travel the world while seeking to further improve my heath. The yoga retreat was meant to be an integral step in helping me improve further still. it is ironic as the name I was allocated on arrival was compassion and I was shown none of this when I approached Bhud. The following morning HUD led us through another yoga session  which, as a beginner, I found to be too fast paced and was unable to keep up. Bhud was too busy showing off her expertise to notice or even offer alternative, easier  ways to complete the flow. We were then told to freeatyle and when I stopped all together she asked me if I  had a problem. I explained that it was all too fast and she responded with 'what do you want to do?. when I just looked at her perplexed she followed it up with ' I can't change the programme just for you'. Again, I looked at her perexes and she reiterated 'what do you want to do''  No offers of help, nothing. Feeling extremely intimidated I left the class.  Bhud showed no feelings about this at all. she didn't approach me at all to see if there was a way to resolve this. She didn't need to because I had already paid her cash up front so she had nothing to lose. I had to stay overnight as I had nowhere else to go so bhud had ample opportunity to come and see me but chose not to. I subsequently applied for a partial refund as I had mentioned on the application that  was a complete beginner and despite this the application was accepted. The first two emails were ignored completely and only when I threatened to write a negative review in the public domain did I receive a less than satisfactory reply from Bhud, which she, unprofessionally copied to the rest of the group in a bid to gain them as witnesses. She was very clear that a partial refund would not be considered and she wasn't bothered about my review going public. I responded with a full, detailed response as to why i  felt my request was fair but accepted that I couldn't force her to issue a partial refund. Suffice to say she has ignored that email too. So here I am. I later learned that I was not the only one struggling and qhen others raised concerns after I had left the class Bhud was forced to slow the class down. A bit late for me however. Now  am aware that as a lone descended here my integrity will no doubt be questioned. I am, however, happy to share copies of the correspondence shared between us with anyone who asks. I am disappointed to confirm that my first venture into the yoga lifestyle has left me with a reluctance to pursue it further. What a shame
