I was here for 10 days during the lantern festival. Chose this place for the price and the location (right next door to the bus station) and was pleasantly suprised by my room, which was enormous and the shower was much better than it looked, plus the wifi was good too. So excellent value for money but it was the staff who get this place a 5 star review . The staff could not have been more helpful and really go out of their way to answer all guests questions. I hired a scooter for a week and they gave me a very good price and a nice bike too. I was worried about noise, being so close to the bus station but there  are hardly any busses so no noise at all.

Rueang Sri Ri Guesthouse is located at 17.014699 N, 99.811986 E (17°00'52.9"N 99°48'43.2"E) at the bus station. It was a perfect base to catch the 06:40 Wintour bus to Si Satchanalai Historical Park for 45 Baht. The later 09:00 bus will not allow for enough time to see everything. The bus drops off on Highway 101 at km 135 + 550 m at 17.432578 N, 99.811911 E (17°25'57.3"N 99°48'42.9"E). We came back on the last bus which showed up at the 50 Baht bike rental shop half an hour early at 15:00 instead of 15:30. The owner put out a huge purple flag to tell the bus to stop for us. 

Rooms with a double bed are about 257 Baht with fan and 457 Baht with air conditioning. I paid 200 Baht cash only on check in to upgrade to air conditioning as I did not read the room description when making the booking. Air conditioning rooms will be the last listed on Hotels. The section we stayed in was eighteen months old, but looks brand new. Very clean!

Foam mattress was reasonably soft. The Hello Bear sheet and pillowcases were cute. Two small bottles of water were provided at check in. Gave us map. Told us about festival at night market.

Not all "wooden trucks" from Old Sukhothai go to Bus Terminal. Most actually do not. They go to the market area downtown. Locals seem to pay 10 Baht. We paid 20 Baht.

Get up early if you are going to Kamphaeng Phet. Go to the Wintour window to book on a Bus 100. The local 130 truck only leaves when it gets enough people, and we waited two hours.

The best place to eat is T Bone Steak House, 800 meters away on the main street in town. Part of the way is on a dirt road but most in paved. Meals are delicious and are made to order, starting at 79 Baht.

Perfect location for the Historical Parks

Good stop off for the old city , very good if your coming from the bus the station just across the road . Local bus to the temple which cost about 20p , very cheap nice place to eat just behind very easy to rent bikes from the hotel.

Great location -across the carpark from the bus station. Very spacious. Comfy beds. Dorm rooms were clean - although themed like a children’s nursery! Curtains for privacy and plenty of fans. Small lockers, clothes rails and desks in room. 1 male and female toilet/shower which was often busy but usually clean. Friendly reception staff and food and drinks available. Every morning we were woken by cleaners lingering and shouting outside the rooms to eachother! Would recommend but bring earplugs!

Looks like a children’s nursery, but comfy

Situated at the Sukhothai new bus station means you only need walk a few metres to check in. Several different classes of room to choose from.

Walk back to the bus station to catch the extremely numerous song tau taxi option to visit Sukothai Old city ruins at 30 baht per person.

These run with the last return option at 1730 I was told. Unsure exactly what time in the morning they start.

Food is available in about 4 small cafes. Not fine dining but i would advise the easy 1-1 1/2 km walk into town to visit the numerous food options on the street and restaurants like Poo and Pai etc.

The walk starts at the end of the cafes and is straight forward, reasonably well lit most of the way and safe from our experiences visiting twice now. 

A torch is always good value when walking home later. A few dogs but nothing aggressive to be concerned about.

You also get to board the bus early so get better seating options than after a few stops when you want to move on.
