Nice, clean and centrally located, close to the hospital, city shrine as well as government offices.The night market and river are close. No real language difficulties and front desk was polite and helpful.  Good for business travel.  

Good for business travel

We stayed one night in a river view room at CBD 2 hotel. The hotel is riverfront. The river views were beautiful. The room was big. The beds were big. The AC was cool. The parking was adequate. There were salad, ham, broiled eggs, Thai food for the breakfast.

Good for One Night!

I'm sure at one time this was a four-star hotel. The decor is lovely, the rooms are neat and clean, the beds are very good but the amenities are lacking. the rooms provide a pot to make hot water and coffee cups to go with it but no coffee or tea is available. The only soap for a shower were the small standard bars of soap no body wash or gel as is customary here. There was shampoo however. As we walked about last night we noticed that there was a large restaurant and entertainment venue along the river but it looked like it had been closed for many months. Breakfast this morning was the worst that I have had in Thailand. We had to select from a menu when we came in yesterday and I expected to go down to a restaurant and eat but it was delivered this morning to our door and all of the food was cold, especially the eggs which I abhor. I don't remember the price difference between a room with or without breakfast or even if there was a price difference but this was a poor attempt at any kind of breakfast. I am very disappointed. Lastly, I will say that the views are very nice and we are on the highest floor, the sixth floor period with a view of the river and downtown Surat Thani. 

Seeing the aftereffects of Covid 19

Although the price was right, (I could have got it a fair bit cheaper by booking on-line), there are a few things that need to be improved to lure me back to this hotel.
First of all, the good points:-

1) Price, reasonable considering the location.
2) We had a big room on the top floor.
3) Big comfortable bed.
4) Fridge, Coffee making facility( there is a kettle and cups, be aware you must ask for the coffee etc), Hair dryer, Flat
 screen TV.
5) From the top floor there is a good view of the river.
6) 2 bottles of water supplied every day.
7) Free WiFi.
8) A small Tesco Lotus and 7/11 are a short walk along the street. There are some street food stalls in the same area.
9) If you like to walk the night market is about 25mins away and on Saturday evenings the floating market is the same distance in the opposite direction. Otherwise they are a few minutes Tuk Tuk ride.
10) Good strong shower.
11) Ample car parking.
12) The "Grounds" restaurant is worth all the negative points below. Excellent staff and really top notch food.

Improvements needed:-

1) Wardrobe is incredibly small, really no good for a couple on a multi night stay. there are no shelves or drawers in the wardrobe. 5 clothes hangers are provided, none of which are any good for trousers.
2) There are no drawers anywhere in the room, hence, apart from 5 shirts or dresses, everything must be stored on the desktop around the TV.
3) As mentioned previously there is a kettle and cups however no coffee or sugar. The kettle is on top of the fridge, nowhere near an electric socket.
4) 1 small(very) bottle of shampoo, replaced every day.
5) No door on the shower cubicle, therefore water gets on the floor and makes the floor fairly slippy. Shower head has to be removed to enable showering.
6) No English language channels on TV.
7) The hotel is outside food delivery services like Foodpanda.

No more than 3 Stars

Good size of room, basic as hotel tariff is not expensive so please do not expect anything, only for sleeping and shower nothing else, breakfast average but not that clean, plates are broken, saucers are not cleaned and one of them I found mosquito, so I would say it's average,  may it's ok while transferring to other city's.



Big but not maintained

We stopped here for a night on our way from Chaing Mai to Koh Toa. All we wanted was a comfortable bed and a decent breakfast.
The rooms on the 5th floor were clean and well furnished with a view over the river. We slept well and the air conditioning had a good quality Honeywell thermostat.

The breakfast was pretty naff, the fruit was crawling in ants and the tea was rubbish. Plenty of Asian food but it looked like it had been hanging around for some time so we did not eat it. Eggs were severely under cooked with no option for boiled/scrambled etc. 

We went into the local plaza which was extremely interesting. It was a busy working port area with lots of Thai tourists. We also walked to Ko Lamphu Public Park before our ferry which was great. 

My advice would be to arrange your travel so that you do not stay in Surat Thani unless you are interested in local Thai culture (not westernised Thai Culture).



Not bad for a transit hotel. - Sort out the breakfast!

Stayed 1 night at this hotel. 
The good point are.... 
The beds were comfortable. 
Good size room looking over the river. 
Clean bathrooms and bedroom area. 
Bad points..... 
Not European friendly. Don't speak English hard to get them to understand you. 
No tea and coffee in the rooms. 
Very large new fridge but empty!
The biggest disappointment was the breakfast. No tea! Unhelpful staff. The fruit had insect crawling all over it.
Plenty of Thai food but cold. 
2 toasters only one side worked on each side. 
If you enjoy white toast and red spread you'll be in for a treat!! 
Shame they don't want to encourage the European clientele. Shame.... Just a few changes would make this an OK hotel.

Not worth the stay.

A trip to treat our 11 year old boy after his final exam & school summer. As we search for the hotel, CBD 2 Hotel stood out attacking. We booked, after checking in, we still found some rubbish on the side of beds. When we booked we expressed having 2 adults and 1 eleven year boy for a 2 Queen bed room, but only found 2 sets of towers, called up the front desk and told having to pay extra. So in this case, the would be extra charges should have been laid out clearly on the booking form. Then on our second day, the 2 used water glasses got left to be used again without replacing with 2 new wrapped ones. My guess from my various experiences is that part of their maids possibly be from the neighboring foreign labor that many of them still cling onto their lower life standard pretty tightly.

Beauty without grace is a violet without smell

Room with river view is just great...but the hotel is so old and smells. Air Conditioning just doesn't work right...it stopped at 2am...so I woke up because of heat. Wifi is so weak, can barely connect. Electricity also very weak, felt that when trying to changey phone...took the whole night to complete
