Sticky rusty floors, no aircon, damaged windows, fans that have so much dirt on it you cannot see the metal. Oh and there is no water the next day. It’s one of the worst places I’ve stayed in. And oh, it’s NOT a white sand beach. Coarse ugly beach. Can’t believe I flew all the way to Tonga for this dump!

really nice place. Very spacious rooms. No wifi or cell phone network in the rooms but if drive 1-5 min you will find coverage.
Friendly staff and we appreciated that there was almost nobody else in the resort. Good for people looking for chill and quite place.

The Tonga National Basketball Team have players from all over the world who came to Tonga for team camp prior to the Pacific Games 2019.  We were fortunate to stay at White Sands Beach Resort for the duration of our stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time out at the beach.  The resort quickly became a second home to us as the staff and management made us feel welcomed and cared for.  Nothing was too difficult and although some facilities were damaged from the recent cyclone this did not detract from the peaceful beauty of the resort and surroundings.  Thank you Gloria for hosting us!

Basketball Team Camp

Firstly, I am seasoned traveler, reasonable person and very accommodating. I have stayed in backpackers and 6 star hotels. I am struggling to find a SINGLE thing that this place has to offer that was worth the money I paid. 

A backpackers would have been an upgrade. Awful awful accommodation. You'd need a 4x4 to access it safely as its literally in the middle of nowhere. The beach is not swim-able and is poorly maintained. This place reeks of imminent shutdown. There are NO amenities. Major FALSE ADVERTISING. No Wifi, No Air Con, Windows don't close, moldy sheets, battered mattresses, NO FOOD,(except a continental breakfast apparently, which would not be served to me as I was 20min early. 08:10am!!)  Nothing available to purchase. Ant, fly and mosquito infested. I had brought a bottle of water with me and asked a friendly neighbor if there was anything around in the area I could purchase some food/drinks. No. He knocked on my door some time after with some noodles as he felt sorry for me.

 It will cost you $80 in a taxi, and about 45min to get there from the airport. And the best bit ??? THE MANAGER. A completely lethargic, unprofessional, unfriendly individual who didn't have the decency to even introduce herself. On arrival I asked for a fan, she looked around confused and said "i'll see if there's something lying around" She never returned. She never asked me would I like anything or how I was, my name, nothing. She couldn't have been more unhelpful, and rude frankly. 

I had booked 5 nights, I immediately checked out the next morning and found alternative accommodation. Any chance of a refund ?? haha a blatant refusal to refund, for any reason, not interested in any customer complaint. It baffles the mind how this place is in business, especially when you consider the price. I'm guessing the positive reviews here are from friends.

The photos of this plac should be updated, as they DO NOT show the reality. It seems like the place haven't been maintained in many years, and calling it a 'resort' is a joke.
It says complimentary breakfast, but the staff didn't seem to realise or agree with us. 
The pool isn't accessible as it is being "renovated".
The rooms are small, and poorly maintained. No hot water, and very uncomfortable beds.
It doesn't seem like the staff actually want people to stay there. 
It is really expensive, and you'll be better off staying at another place, for better accomadation at lower costs. Would definitely not recommend.

What you see, it NOT what you get

After a month travelling, a couple of nights here gave us the down time we needed. Beautiful white beach, warm sea, starry nights, clean accommodation, great breakfasts, friendly and helpful staffWe did take our own food for meals. Gloria and her team were great, especially when it came to arranging taxis. Thank you. 

Wow! We loved it here! 

 Couldn't care less attitude of the staff. Disgusting bed - mattress base & the 2 foam matttress's  covered in MOULD.
The sheets had not been changed or washed,bits of grass were found between them. The pillow cases smelt of the last occupants perfume / deodorant. There were 2 other single beds with wire bases & foam mattresses. One of them had a nest of spiders in the bed spread. . No tea/coffee cups, no cutlery, towels, soap
The web site photos are nothing like the reality of this resort. 
 Do Not Book  until you actually view the unit .

false impressions

If you love quiet, private back-packer style accommodation then White Sands Beach Resort is the place for you! Our room was quiet, very spacious & island-style clean with an en-suite, comfortable queen size bed & views of the ocean. Gloria & her family & staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. White Sands is a wee way out of town but with such a stunning private beach you really don't need to go anywhere! Breakfast & other meals are available on site (you just need to order each morning). There's also shared cooking facilities in the undercover outdoor area & our room had a full-size fridge-freezer. We really hope we get a chance to return one day!
