Good location and security. Low price and includes breakfast. Most employees are very kind with some exceptions. Cigarrette odor might get a bit strong in some parts and rooms. It's a European building, it looks a bit old. T.V. is also old and WiFi doesn't reache all rooms.

Economic classic hotel

I stayed four nights in this hotel and found it quite pleasant. Most reviews were bad and literally tried to put you off staying, but for a cheap room with breakfast you can't complain too much! The room was a good size with adequate storage space. There was a double and single bed with extra pillows (so no need to ask). The TV was very outdated (square box on wall) but worked well enough. A downside was the bathroom door...glass panelled! Fortunately I was staying with my husband but if I was with a friend it would have been a little awkward as you would have to stay on the bed so you "don't see anything". The room was clean and the maid came everyday to clean and tidy, changing towels as needed. The breakfast again was simple but enough.
There was good WI-FI throughout the hotel including our room. Common areas with bigger TVs that were always free. The staff were friendly and welcoming and never showed any annoyance with us arriving gone 11pm and having to leave at 5am (they locked they main gate at night for security). A little bar was also attached to the hotel.
Location was good to airport and cost 5dinar in a taxi to get there...they will rip you off when going from airport as our taxi driver refused to put the counter on and wanted to charge 40-50dinar!!! We haggled down to 20dinar and that's with my husband being Tunisian and speaking Arabic! So careful to not get ripped off and always ask them to put the counter on whenever you get in any taxi!
Good location to shops and restaurants and coffee shops. Taxis always available and only cost 10dinar to SiSi Bousaid (would recommend) and 10dinar to the other side of Tunis where embassy etc is.

Cheap and Convenient

I was drawn to this hotel by the name and the prices.  After having stayed in a few 'fancy' places for double the price, I was actually wary of moving in here.  WRONG.
No, it's not Fancy.  But my room contained some very nice 'antique' furniture' (I prefer >50 year old real wood furniture to the modern run-of-the-mill plywood hotel furniture crap ;-). the room was spacious, and so was the bathroom.  No complaints here.

I feel that the restaurant of this hotel also deserves special mention. No, it's not listed on TripAdvisor ;-(
Prices are cheap, the menu is mall, but the food quality and quantity were impressive. NO, it's not a fancy French restaurant, but it's good Tunisian food at a very good price.

Wifi of the hotel is better than the Wifi in any of the 4 'fancy' hotels I've stayed in during the last week. Breakfast was simple but fresh and delicious and served with an honest smile.

The only negative thing was a Vacuum Septic truck working outside my window to empty some tanks or broken sewage line in a side street. The affair was odour-free but the bloody vacuum engine was running until 2 am.  Naturally NOT the hotel's fault.

All in all, I'm truly looking forward to returning to the St-Georges !

Basic but nice accommodation for a SUPER PRICE

Unless you are absolutely desperate and have no bed for the night avoid this hotel at any cost.  It was on bookings.com as 3 star.  We arrived to see at least 1 star had been scratched off the external sign.  

There was only one member of staff on reception who was remotely helpful.  Interior  throughout was shabby, freezing cold, unwelcoming and smelt of damp.  The rooms were awful.  Furniture and fittings were circa 1932 and bedrooms freezing cold and either cramped or uncomfortable. The lightening was so inadequate i had to balance a torch and my torch on my mobile near the only mirror I could access, to put in/take out my contact lenses or apply make-up.  We only unpacked toiletries as didn't want to put our clothes in the wardrobe.  It was cleaned but that's the very least you'd expect. 

Also very noisy at night even wearing ear-plugs.  I'd changed rooms twice but gave up after that as they were all as bad.  We had booked only 2 nights and didn't want to trudge round finding somewhere else to stay so we put up with it and spent as much time as we could outside. Any longer and certainly we would have left.  As per, in Tunisia, the card machine didn't work on arrival so we had to hand over cash.   Very convenient - not!  

The breakfast room was freezing cold as they insisted on leaving all the main doors open so we shivered as we ate.  We kept asking for more coffee as they provided a cup's worth for 3 of us!  Nothing was out or ready so we had to wait for someone to serve us and there was no choice of what to eat.

The only words I can think of to describe this hotel is that it looked like a reception centre for refugees.

The worst place I've ever stayed in, in my life!

I just booked this hotel for one night back from my holiday in hammamat to london  because is near to airport 15 min approx to tunis carthage airport so my night was good the man in reception gave us a good reception in checking and was very nice and help full like all tunisians people the hotel is quite old but is good and reasonably price especially if your flight in early morning you will reach the airport in no more than 15 min and the cost of the taxi to airport is 4 D T about £1.60  GB P however the room is big and very clean the wifi in room work perfect so you can stay connect about your world i will recommend this hotel to simple people like me the only problem that there is not lift to carry your luggage so for old people i think is going to be problem.thanks wishing you have a good holiday
