Villa Les Palmes 

This family-owned hotel is situated in a more peaceful area, approx. 10-15mins drive from the airport. However, it is still close enough to the city center and old medina, being 5-10mins away if using a taxi. There are some cafes, restaurants and supermarkets in the surrounding area for convenience. Although there is no lift in the hotel, the owner will assist bringing the luggage up the stairs. The hotel was very clean with daily cleaning and housekeeping. Depending on the room selected during booking, it may be required to use the shared bathroom. Other rooms have a private bathroom included. Therefore, be sure to select the room which is more suitable for yourself. For dinner, the hotel owner informed me daily, what dishes would be cooked by his wife (mainly Tunisian cuisine). It is a 4 course meal for approx £15 which is good value. The food was very nice with big portions. As i was performing Ramadan during most of my 7-day stay, i only ate breakfast once, as it was not served before sunrise at the time of my stay (February). However, it was very good and with lots of variety. After dinner in the evening, I was kindly given bread with cheeses, salad and desserts to take back into my room to eat during the night, and for breakfast the following day for Ramadan. The hotel owner was very accommodating and helpful. He provided advice on things to see and do. Using his contacts, he was able to arrange multi-city day tours cheaper than what was available on tripadvisor. Also, he instructed his contact to accompany and assist me with buying items from local markets, ensuring i paid a fair price.
