And Hotel

We stayed for 1 night in the suite of And Butik Hotel which is located inside the Ankara Castle/Citadel's walls. It was a little tricky to find it initially but when I rang for directions, they answered promptly and directed the taxi driver easily. The experience of driving uphill (and not doing that steep uphill walk with luggage) through the castle gates, then through the winding roads up to the hotel was enchanting. The staff is friendly, efficient, and helpful. They speak great English. I inquired about the museum timings and they rang up and told me the info within minutes. The breakfast was good. The hotel itself is an original 100 yr old Ottoman house and has been lovingly and tastefully restored. We had the suite at the top of the main mansion which had a double bed room, living room with a sofa bed and a kitchen. It was so beautiful, quaint and simply perfect! I loved, loved, loved it -- the ceilings, floors, everything is wooden! The beds were comfortable, everything was neat and tidy. Washroom was quaint and big with excellent toiletries. Wifi was good and there was a lot of tv channels. The views from the rooms were wonderful (the hotel is almost at the very top most point of the castle) especially at night when all of Ankara was twinkling underneath! The hotel is just under the castle ramparts and near the mosque. It was a pleasure to stroll out in the village area, exploring the roads and village square. We strolled at night and even at dawn. All was lovely ! The location is great as several very good eateries and general item and souvenir shops are nearby. Once out of the castle gates and down the road in a 5 min walk, you reach the fabulous Anatolian Museum and a delightful Hisar park. Anitkabir is a 15 min drive. The village square is charming with flowers everywhere and happy people going about their lives. The whole place has such a relaxed, happy vibe! I think our Ankara trip was outstanding since we stayed in the Citadel. And Hotel was just the brilliant icing on the cake !
