We had a terrible experience with an unpleasant hotel owner, a lousy room, and poor catering. The hotel owner demanded 20 euros more per day when we were to pay. He had not been present during the two days we were there, but instead, we got him on the phone through the staff when we tried to settle the bill. He repeatedly said he wanted the money in cash, explaining this by saying there are fees on credit cards. When he finally arrived, he demanded more money than the reservation stated. He unpleasantly insisted on his demand and referred to us having to take it up with Agoda afterward. Since the reservation required payment on-site, we ultimately had no choice but to pay so we could leave the hotel the next day. We ended up insisting on paying by credit card so we would have a receipt.
On top of this extortion, our so-called sea view room consisted of a balcony where you could only see the water from the corner due to a huge tree and a window facing the water with a bed in front of it. None of the windows in the room could be opened, the bathroom was covered in limescale, and there was dirt in the corners. Additionally, the room was not cleaned, nor were the beds made during our stay. The food at the hotel was terrible and had a poor selection. Overall, a thoroughly lousy experience that we cannot recommend. Kizkalesi is a beautiful place, but staying at Seymen Otel is not recommended.
