Poorly Maintained, not as advertised, not kept up, not clean.  If you are thinking about having a good place in Istanbul, do not choose Istanblue.  No Kitchen, no working Washer and Dryer, no hot water.

Terrible

While the hotel is in a great section of old town, I (and my group of fellow travelers) were very misled and disappointed by our experience.  When we arrived after a long day of travel, the front of the facility looked like something from a war zone! We were told we were renting a one level house, and what we discovered was a really run-down looking, shabby apartment-like hotel.  We each had our own room.  The furniture looked like it came from a bad yard sale.  There was NO HOT WATER, and the manager made no effort to correct the problem.  We were promised a functional washer/dryer and they did not work.  We were told we had a common kitchen, but it was not functional.  Strangers had access to property, and the "manager" (our only contact) was unresponsive to our concerns.  We were deliberately misled, lied to, and charged too much money for what we were promised.  The bathrooms were not clean, and all throughout the property it smelled of urine and mold.  The hotel was very noisy, and it made an otherwise wonderful trip very disappointing.  I would not recommend this hotel.

Istanblue Hotel: WHAT A WASTE

The good news--the location was great.  The view of the Blue Mosque was stunning. It was right in the heart of major sites and great food. The negatives--my room was tiny, my tv was broken, my bathroom had a constant stink, the building was not secure, no idea where this great breakfast was that others talked about, and the worst--no hot water. I might have given it a middling rating if we had hot water (and we asked about it twice). But, without hot water, it was not at all welcoming.

Unacceptable

The description of this hotel is pretty misleading.  It is a six-room hotel, with basic amenities and a roof-top common room and balcony, two rooms per floor.  The rooms range from cramped double rooms to quite spacious suites.  My room had no hot water, a moldy smell, a non-functioning air conditioner and a TV that also didn't work.  The promised laundry also didn't work.  The location is wonderful, and if the establishment gets things working, it could be a nice budget place.  But don't count on it.

Great location, low quality place

This was a terribly disappointing part of an incredible trip. The establishment is intentionally misleading in its advertising, did not offer the amenities described, was entirely unresponsive to issues, and wound up being a profound waste of money.

Do not make the mistake we made. Stay elsewhere.
