I wanted to spend some time in Istanbul near the centre but in typical Turkish district. I went through some travel guides and decided to go to Kucuk Pazar. And that was the best I could do! 
The most important pros of Kral Mert Hotel is it's location. The district is Turkish with great food, Gipsies and a lot of shops. Unfortunately Istanbul municipality want to revitalise that part of town and they will destroy it and build it from the scratch. Pity! But you still have a chance to come and see it. 
Hotel is located near very nice new bridge built for new line of Metro. The station Halic is placed on the bridge not far from Hotel. The Sirkeci Harbour is located not very far too. 
As regards hotel: rooms are small but clean. They serve small continental breakfasts. 
Staff is very helpful and talkative. It's nice to spend evening sitting with them and other guests near the reception desk.

visit real Turkish district before it's revitalisation!

The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. It's close to a major metro stop and within easy walking distance of the spice baazar and ferry port at Eminonu. The area around seems is very safe and is not filled with tourists like other parts of the city, and therefore much less expensive. The rooms were cleaned everyday and Ibrahim was always around to talk with you over tea in the lobby. He even got us a cheap ride to the airport late at night for us to catch our midnight flight. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for everything!

Kind and helpful staff

This hotel is like feeling at home. Abrahim is really kind and helpful, he is always disposed to have a nice talk and give you advices about the city! The zone isn't the most beautiful, but it is quite close to some many sightseeing points.

Feeling like home!

Reasonable price for everything you need in Istanbul. 200 metres from metro station Halic and 400 from ferry station Eminonu. Ibrahim is very helpful guy. Located in street where everything is very cheap and available. See you again!

Great holidays

Interesting location in local area with many shops, stalls and bars where you can taste fresh, local specifics few times cheaper than in very touristic areas.
Few minutes walk to Spice Bazaar and trade streets leading to Grand Bazaar. Very close to Bosphorus and Galata Bridge (with famous balik ekmek) as well as any transportation to all the most important attractions which are also easy to reach walking. 

Hotel is basic but clean and safe. Comfy beds in the room, TV, internet connection (however sometimes poor), bathroom clean with soap, body wash and clean towels every day. Every day fresh breakfast is waiting for you, as well as tea and still water any time during the day.
Last but not least Mr Ibrahim is its jewel - always there, always helpful, providing valuable suggestions and advices.  
I spent there 11 nights and I'm quite positive about this place.
