We stayed 5 nights at Artisan Hotel. The hotel is located within walking distance to Taksim Square and the Beşiktaş area and the surrounding area is not as busy with traffic as other parts of Istanbul. We booked a corner room which was larger and had a bathtub. Bed was comfortable and we were able to control the air temperature in the room. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and you can also get a chance to meet their two resident dogs Lady and Sophia. They are quite large dogs but don’t worry they don’t bite. We had breakfast at the rooftop and the view of the Bosphorus in the morning was magnificent. Great way to start the day. The food was good with a good buffet spread. There are several restaurants and supermarkets nearby which is convenient. If you are walking towards Taksim Square the incline is not too bad but if you are heading coming back up from the Kabatas ferry terminal/tram station/Dolmabache Palace then the climb up can be quite steep. However if you do not want to climb you can always hop on to a bus as the bus stop is located in front of the hotel. Overall we had a wonderful and memorable stay at Istanbul and if we were to come back then we would definitely consider staying here.

    What was good

    The location is great, a 10-minute walk from Taksim square and about the same walk from the Kabotas tram station offering direct communication with the old city. The staff was very friendly and efficient, the room was cleaned daily, fresh potable water always available in the room free of charge. the restaurant/breakfast room on the top floor has a spectacular view of Bosphorus.

    What was bad

    The breakfast is a bit overpriced
