I have stayed at the Finch Apartments many times and it continues to be my favourite place in Istanbul. Each room has all the amenities required to meet one's needs including kitchenette, aircon, en-suite bathroom and satellite TV. The fully fitted kitchen on the top floor and roof top terrace are a really nice touch and greatly enhance the charm of this place.

It's location is excellent, being close to Tophane tram station which takes you directly to the tourist sights of Sultanhamet, or with one change, to the airport or Taksim square and the buzzing area of Karakoy is literally 2 minutes walk away with the best cafe's, bars and restaurants that Istanbul currently has to offer.

Ondur the owner is extremely helpful and truly offers service way above that which is offered by similar venues.

I can not recommend the Finch highly enough for service and value for money and guarantee you will not be disappointed if you stay here.

My favourite place in Istanbul

Within a few days of checking in, I decided to stay for the duration of my time in Istanbul. The location could not be better; it's right off of the tram line that goes to the old city near the Galata Bridge. It's an easy, if uphill, walk to Galata Tower and a short funicular to Istiklal Caddesi. That being said, there is very little need to actually leave Karakoy to find things to do. It's certainly not a luxury hotel, but the price is right, the rooms are clean and comfortable (if a bit hot in the summer), and the owner is fantastically friendly and helpful.

Fantastic place to stay

Finch Apartments is a really nice hotel in the coolest neighbourhood in Istanbul. We really liked staying there. Next to the place are many cool bars and restaurants and you can both walk to the old and to the new part of the city even if the tram is also closeby. The place itself is rather quiet with a really friendly host that helps you with everything. We would definitely come again...

Nice place to stay!

Within hours of arriving at Finch Apartments, I had emailed the owner to ask if I could extend my stay. I wound up staying for a total of two weeks because it was such an affordable, comfortable and convenient base from which to explore Sultanahmet, Beyoglu and Kadikoy. I had a small, interior room which didn't have much natural light, but otherwise it was very comfortable and cozy in the damp fall weather. The communal kitchen was clean and stocked with the basics (pans, utensils, etc) for making meals at home or having a cup of afternoon tea.  It is a quiet spot - not much interaction with other guests or staff, but I could always get a hold of someone when I needed. It really felt like having my own little apartment. The owner, Onder, was extremely professional, helpful and kind. Be sure to ask him to help book cabs or airport shuttles - he'll make sure you don't get overcharged by the taxi drivers. 

The location is fantastic. It's a short walk up to the Galata Tower, Istiklal street, Cihangir, Taksim Square and all of the restaurants, shops and bars in those areas. It's a nice 30-minute walk over the bridge to the Spice Market and other attractions. And the ferry to Kadikoy leaves from the pier 5 min away. But aside from being a central location to better-known attractions, the Karakoy neighborhood has a lot to offer! If you get off the main streets and wander down the tree-lined alley ways, you'll find lots of street art and hip cafes. There are also some stellar dining options in the immediate area (NATO Lokantasi, Karakoy Gumruk). And the wonderful Istanbul Modern Art Museum is just down the street.

Overall, Finch Apartments is a real gem in Istanbul - good value, great location.

A great base for exploring Istanbul

We stayed here twice, and really really enjoyed it. I always found myself contacting the property at the last minute, and they were always super responsive and helpful. And both times they had availability in a nicer room than we'd paid for, so they upgraded us for free without our asking! The rooms were basic, but they had everything we needed and they were very clean. They also had easy laundry service and reliable wifi. The location was great, too -- lots of trendy cafes hidden in the nooks and crannies of the surrounding streets, and super easy to get anywhere you want to go by walking or by metro. Definitely recommended!

Communicative and accommodating

Located in the city centre, in Karaköy, not far from the transportation,a quarter of an hour from the blue mosque,pleasant hotel.Room high ceiling,the silence of the street gives me a long way to go.You won't get bored in the neighborhood because you have cafes and bars in the old streets of Karaköy.

For a tourist stay this establishment is really ideal. Nearby tram and subway stations, in fact everything is accessible on foot if you like a little walking or a little weather. The rooms are in very good condition and the kitchen is very well equipped. Onder is a very friendly, helpful host, he speaks excellent English. We wish him well to develop his business.

Excellent accommodation

The other reviews seem a little overblown, although I recommend it, low prices, excellent location in the southern area of beyoglu which I recommend because it is very nice, very convenient because it is very close to the tram stop to reach sultanahmet, but you can also walk there.

Great location!

It's going to be hard to find at first a person with topographical creatinism. The owner saw only when they settled down. When they moved out, they just left the key on the table at the entrance.

No windows.

The rooms in this apartment are small and at least our windowless with a small kitchen in common. However, everything is clean with the possibility of drinking water on the ground floor. The owner is very available and even if he is not always present he leaves his cell phone number. The location is very interesting because it is close to the tram stop and if you want the center you can easily reach on foot. In short, considering the prices offered here in Istanbul this accommodation seems to me to be a fair quality/price ratio for those who want a room without great claims.
