Mami and the rest of the staff are friendly,  helpful and full of smiles! Our room was comfortable and clean even though the bathroom is a bit compact.
Each day, we would share our plans and get advice from reception on how to travel,  where to go etc.
We arrived from the airport via public transport but the hill to the closest Metro station is quite something to behold so we thought it best to arrange an airport transfer when we depart. Mami and his team arranged it for us with no issues!

Lovely and comfortable 

First, I should clarify, by no means this could not be called a hotel.
Every thing is very basic, it is not located in taksim area at all, you should take a long walk underground to go to istiklal street and then taksim square.
It was very crowded and niosy outside, even during night, there was a police station next to the hotel,  and I could hardly feel safe.
The night shift reception had booked our airport shuttle for another airport, and we had to wait a lot at 5 AM for a second taxi.
They just cleaned the room once, during our three night stay.
It s just an economic place to stay overnight, nothing more.

Shocking experience

The whole place felt newly decorated  and clean. The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. Breakfast was good. It is situated in a quiet road, but only 150m from the busy shops and restaurants and waterfront. I liked the location, near the waterfront where you can get a boat to the other side of the Bosphorus. I also liked the friendly, helpful staff at the reception. They made us feel immediately welcome. I will be back

Excellent value budget hotel

I highly recommend this hotel,the familly room has two separated romes with beautifull sea view, the bathroom was very clean. the location was perfect ! the entrance of şişhane metro just about 100 meters next to the bus station and you can go by boat using Kasımpaşa Haliç Hattı.

Cosy hotel

1.As stated "this a quiet neighbourhood in a residential area" the owner has failed to mention that there is a school across the street which starts at 7.30 everyday with loud music every half an hour over a TANNOY and continues late into the afternoon.
2.There are no floor plans in any of the rooms I stayed in or any indication to a fire escape.
3.There are no phones/intercom in any rooms .If in a state of a fire or emergency guests have no way to contact reception.
4.There's no handle bars on the entrance of the hotel .So guests have to be extra careful climbing the stairs especially children and mature guests.
5.There are live electric wires in the rooms as wells bathrooms.
6.The shelf in the bathroom are slanted so you cannot place anything on them.
7.The TV does not have any signals( both rooms I stayed in )
8.There are NO wardrobes to hang clothes only very small cabinets .
9.The fridge was very hot you could feel the heat through the cabinet
10.There was no curtain on my window.(after 2 days they decided to put another curtain in order to keep out light)
11.There is no bidet in any room.(its a toilet with a water attachment )Not a toilet and a bidet
12.The hotel is not sound proof (you can hear people talking ,flushing toilets and other noises you may not want to hear.
13.The night staff talk very loudly that they can be heard upstairs .
14.The daily housekeeping is hit and miss (they tend to forget to leave you any towels,toilet paper and even pillow cases in my case).
These are just some of the highlights of this highly rated hotel on your website.
First of all I kept on getting messages from this hotel to give them the APPROXIMATE time of my arrival although I did give them the a rough timing of my arrival.Then they sent me another message again asking for the time .How can a guest give them a time anything can happen i.e traffic jam or if you are new to the city ????
I did inform them that I will arrive late.The check in was straight forward and we were asked to pay immediately.I was expecting a really good service from the reviews I even bought a gift for the staff members to share from London(they did enjoy it I was told)
As we were so tired we just went to our room.After a very noisy night and then the early morning announcement by the TANNOY from school next door.
We proceeded to breakfast the following morning.My son 18 wanted to sit with us for breakfast a staff member said that he was not allowed to pull up a chair to join us.!!!
I went to reception to ask them why not I was told "this is not a restaurant we do not allow groups of people to sit together ????
I said then how are families with children supposed to sit ? After some hesitation (Omar who I was told the BOSS) said that my son could sit with us.
I told him that I really had a very bad night due to the noisy guests and the noise from the school .He told me that there were no rooms available that day and maybe he could offer us another room .
Next day he said that the room opposite us is free and is a standard triple room (although we had booked a delux room).He said just take our luggage into the room .So we moved and left all our stuff in the new room.When we returned to our room late that night I noticed that there was a curtain missing i.e that it did not cover the whole of the window. There were no pillow covers on the pillows and I had to sleep with my scarf spread over the pillows which  were quite stained,checked the bathroom no bath mat no towels
Third day I was told that the curtain would be replaced along with the torn sheets.
Fourth day still no curtain no pillow covers only one sheet was changed.So another sleepless night
Fifth day the curtain was replaced ,I was informed by Omar in a very arrogant way .
As I was only there for 6 nights I just gave up because it seemed that I was just constantly asking them for basic's which should have been replenished daily .
Breakfast became waiting game everyday we waited for cutlery and other items of food as the staff waited for guests to finish and only then they would replenish .The breakfast looks nothing like the pictures advertised on your website in the end we stopped waiting for stuff and ate only which was on display.
Throughout my stay I did not rest at all which was the main purpose of the holiday as I was recovering from stress related illness.
I have visited Istanbul 3 times previously and have stayed in various hotels I have never come across such mismanaged property.
It seems that the management does not care about the basic standards of this place.
All they are interested in is to give them a good review and I told Omar that I will only be stating the truth.
I feel that I have been deprived of my holiday .

Hotel of Horrors

New Taksim Hotel is near central Istanbul, which is just 15-min walk from underground station from where you can go any where to explore Istanbul, overall good place to stay in a reasonable price. Glota Tower is just walking distance from  this hotel
