Booked through Kalkan Holidays. This is a 5 bedroom/5 ensuite villa in a quiet area. It was very clean, spacious with great views and lots of outside space and shaded areas.  Lovely pool which can be heated. It is on a hill but taxis into the Old Town or harbour area are only about £3.  The management team were good too.

Villa Cecili,Kalkan

We visited Turkey from the west coast of America and had a wonderful time in both Kisla/Kalkan and its surrounding area as well as Istanbul. Hotel Kuluhana is located across the bay from the busier British holiday town of Kalkan, but it has access to everything Kalkan offers, yet is calmer and quieter. Easy access to Kalkan either from taxi or the local ferry, great beach area and a couple local hotel run bars and restaurants makes Kisla a great alternative to stay when visiting Kalkan.

Kuluhana is perfectly located about a minute or two walk to the beach, it also has its own pool. New owner, Ozlem, is welcoming and very kind (as is her husband!) and makes for a lovely host on your stay. We were in the hotel's Penthouse room, which has an amazing view over the bay, but we found the west facing balcony a bit too hot to fully enjoy during peak sun hours. The morning and evening were definitely more comfortable. 

Kuluhana also has a restaurant, which offers traditional Turkish breakfast and dinner. Special note to the chef/s...we are vegan, which is more rare in Turkey, however the chef prepared us 4 different vegan meals, which were creative, absolutely delicious and very generous portions. We were very appreciative of this gesture and told them to keep them on their menu as there will no doubt be more vegans who may stay there. 

As Kuluhana gets through its first holiday season of 2022 we are confident it will become one of, if not THE best place to stay in Kisla.

Fantastic location in calmer Kisla

We are staying close by in one of the villas, but love this place. Lovely breakfast and good coffee overlooking the sea. No one wants to cook on vacation so this is a regular pattern for us. There's a late night but chilled bar, and really strong WiFi so if you need to get some work done this is a great little find. Also it's less than a minute (no exaggeration) from the sea front. 

Would recommend. Staff are brilliant too. Super attentive and friendly without being intrusive. From what I can see from the front, the balcony views would be amazing.

We stayed here for just over a week in the middle of summer. The hotel upgraded our room which just completed a truly wonderful experience at Kalkan. The location of the hotel is away from the hussle and bussle and about 30 seconds away from crystal clear water beaches. The staff were polite and friendly - even the chef catered to our varied meal requests. Breakfast was a mix of hot and cold and plentiful, it was like our own personal buffet. The hotel is clean and adheres to COVID protection protocols (a big win as many around the area didn't have the same standards). You can walk to the local market (or call them as they deliver). The staff are super friendly and really helped a lot with navigating around Kalkan. The hotel's location is not central so you may benefit from having a car. We will definitely come back here again and would definitely recommend to those of you who want gorgeous beaches that are not heavily populated, comfort and clean rooms with beautiful views and quick and ready access to markets and restaurants.

Hidden Delight

We only stayed one night in Kuluhana but it is certainly one of the best moments of our stay. The room is very comfortable, with a small terrace with breathtaking sea views. But it is above all the welcome that will remain unforgettable!! We had dinner at the hotel, it was just great. We played backgammon all evening drinking tea and the hotel manager sat with us to coach us on the game. A very nice time.

Gokhan and his team have made our stay in Kisla, Kalkan truly special. The Kuluhana hotel is situated right behind the Kalkan beach club. (With Kuluhana villas behind the hotel, with their own two pools). We booked a standard room with a sea view and waking up every morning to this was a luxury. If there’s something you want, best to ask Gokhan and he will make it happen. For example, I asked for fruit in the morning and my partner asked for Menemen (Turkish scrambled eggs with tomato and peppers, worth a try) which wasn’t a problem and yummy. Also Gokhan gave us some great recommendations for restaurants and bars in the local area, and even booked tables for us. The beach house meant we would have a morning swim in the sea with sun loungers over looking the water. later in the evening we’d order cocktails and watch the sun set here, or in one of the two pools available, either in the hotel or beach club. Often stayed at the hotel for lunch and dinner as it’s quite expensive in Kalkan (£7 for a salad with cheese for example, £5 at the hotel). The chef does a mean grilled seabream and is a very friendly guy who clearly wants you to enjoy your stay. Nearby restaurants to try are Adams (family food and my favourite, he also picks you up). 5 minutes away is The Castle for something a bit more fancy in a trendy setting and Fidanka for very nice reasonably priced food with a view. Gokhan was always so helpful and he’s done a great job with this place. We will return and feel sad to leave after such a relaxing holiday in a romantic setting. The boat to Kalkan works out around £1.50 and takes 10 minutes. Cab around £3 and plenty of them in Kalkan, also is a 10 minute trip. Thanks again Gokhan.

beautiful romantic location

We arrived late on a sunday to find that Gorkhan had waited up for us. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our room. We had an amazing sea view. We checked in properly the next morning after a lovely breakfast from the chef with "tasty hands". Gorkhan made sure everything was ok and checked on us daily to see if we needed anything. We upgraded to a seaview suite after one week and it was fabulous. I highly recommend kuluhana as nothing was too much trouble for Gorkhan and his staff. One of them even gave us a lift up a very steep hill one evening when we were going out for dinner. The place was clean, comfortable and situated across the bay from kalkan. We spent most days at green beach club relaxing in the sun or we could get a boat taxi fron kalkan beach club for a couple of quid each to go to the main area for dinner and shopping. I really couldn't fault this place. The service and consideration was second to none. We think this is one of the best places we have ever been and we have travelled. We hope to come back next year. I hope that gorkhan will still be there as he is a tremendous asset to the place. Thank you for a super holiday. best wishes lisa&lee.

A perfect holiday

We stayed at Kuluhana at the end of September and it was fantastic. The hotel owner Gökhan and all the staff were warm and welcoming. The location of the hotel I think is fantastic - it’s a 5 minute taxi ride or boat trip from the Kalkan town centre, but because of where it is it’s so peaceful and picturesque, surrounded by villas, and the hotel has its own entry to pristine warm blue Mediterranean waters. 

We had one of the smaller rooms but it was very clean and because Kalkan and its surrounds are so stunning and full of things to see and do that was perfect.

Gökhan pulled a few strings to get us a hire car at the last minute for a good price, and we used that to venture to ancient ruins in Patara and the heritage listed site of Xanthos. 

We also drove to Kaş (which is great for shopping for souvenirs and jewellery and other Knick knacks for a good price as Kalkan is more pricey because it’s saturated with Brits whereas Kaş is predominantly where Turks holiday and just a 30 min drive from Kalkan); Kekova to do a private day-long boat trip with the legend Captain Mutlu (+90 532 767 19 48). We also drove to Saklıkent, which is absolutely stunning.  

We would highly recommend eating at Salonica 1881 in the Kalkan town centre. If you’re going to a seaside town in Turkey, please eat the seafood!! The staff here were amazing and classy. At Salonica 1881 PLEASE eat their mezze’s (fava is a must!!), the grilled octopus and the fresh (not farmed) fish, which you choose from inside the restaurant. It was the most delicious seafood we have ever had and we’re saying that as Australians!! Oh and don’t forget to wash it down with a glass of Rakı ;)

In Kaş we ate at Havana Balık Evi. Their food was cheap and so delicious and they seemed to be a family run business - such lovely people. So please support them! We had balık ekmek (fish sandwich), shepherd salad and locally caught fresh calamari which was fried in a delicious light batter and served with a beautiful light sauce. 

We would highly recommend staying at Kuluhana and driving around to make sure you see and experience all these amazing places and people. Some photos below. Kalkan, Kaş, the ancient Lycian, Greek and Roman ruins in Patara and Xanthos, the sunken Lycian city in Kekova, Kaputaş beach and the beautiful national park of Saklıkent with its river, waterfall and white water rafting surrounded by pomegranate trees are a must see!!

Thankyou to gokhan and his staff for a lovely holiday and a special anniversary night which we really appreciated.
The suite we had was spacious, with a lovely balcony and gorgeous view.we would recommend the suite .
There is room for improvement with the standard and choice at breakfast.

After being greeted with the warmest of welcomes we were taken to our penthouse apartment and could not believe our eyes. The views were breathtaking from the luxurious comfort of our verandah. We then swam in both pools and the sea whilst being served drinks and relaxing in the glorious sunshine whilst still looking at that view. Our trip was completed with a delicious freshly prepared meal in the restaurant at which we were asked what music we wished to listen to. At the end of the meal we were joined by the owner who is the most caring and generous host you could wish to meet. Our only complaint is we didn't stay longer..but we will be back.
