We have stayed 3 nights there, principally the price was decisive, Unfortunately, everything is very much overpriced at MARDIN, Hotels and restaurants are far more expensive than Istanbul, Bodrum and Antalya
At the old city (which is a pearl), cleaning and the hygiene is still far away from Turkeys average. 
As dear Yusuf (owner of the hotel) the building is 900 years old, and it is a precious palace.  He has shown us great hospitality and help, he arranged us a daily trip to MIDYAT and surrounding and was very good.
Hotel has min. facilities, even no breakfast but being at the very heard of the Old MARDIN CITY you can have a breakfast at any of those delicious pastries just 100 mts away. 
We were happy about our stay and really appreciated to the owner for his great hospitality.
On the other hand, I have to give some advice, inner decoration and especially baths need lot of corrections and, general view of the Hotel has to be returned to its original look and feel.
With very simple touches could be a prime hotel..
I deliberately, didnt attach any pictures of the interior of the Hotel
Hope they made the corrections asap.



INCREDIBLE SMALL PALACE, But SPOILED

If you pay the hotel at the beginning, you can not find any one, any little service during yr stay, even no one at the reception :) 122,5 steps everyday to the main street. So cool structure but no management. Unfortunately poor price/performance..

Hotel without anyone working

Family of 5 travelling with 3 young kids(6,5,4yo), stayed for 3 nights. Horrible horrible experience. Hotel is tucked away in deep alley and not very easily accessed. There were almost zero customer service from theowner/staff. Upon check-in we were told to cancel our reservation from booking.com, We proceeded with the cancellation and made full payment in cash. Owner claimed cancel due to upgrade of room (which is not true). It was a frozen chamber with no heater, we had to request for a heater and came a portable heater (on second night after multiple reminder/request) but was albeit faulty. Water heater was inconsistent channeling freezing cold water most of the time. Breakfast was cold and super basic. Our room were not made up for all the 3nights stay. No toiletries was provided. Had to request for clean towels. No WIFI in room, only available at hotel "lobby". It was a sad departure as no staff was there to help us with the check out, we had to carry our own luggages down the flights of thousands steep steps to the alley where taxi driver was waiting (raining heavily). Overall, will not recommend for family with young children especially during winter. Despite the good view of the Mesopotamian plains and being the only guests in the huge 900yo building, we will not return to this hotel. There are many more good stoned-wall hotel around with better accessibility to the mainstreet & places of interest.

Winter Disaster

The hotel is beautiful. The views as you enter through the main door and walk on to the terrace, are breathtaking. The medieval theme fits perfectly with the vibe of the old town. 
The staff is lovely. Yusuf, the owner, did everything in his power to help us and make us feel at home. He organized a cheap tour to the important landmarks outside the town, such as the monasteries and the roman ruins. He asked us how much we payed for a taxi coming from the airport to the hotel, and managed to get us a cheaper taxi for our return. All of this with a constant smile on his face. He brought tea up to our room and refused to charge us for it. He took care of our bags after check-out so we could continue to visit the city. 
We absolutely recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel, lovely staff.

maybe we were unlucky - and so were/are  our room neighbours....but i havent slept in such a „hole“ for that price (not even a breakfast on offer) ever ( not as student either ); the room was moulding away... 

sorry, but the nicest welcome (it was) can not fool me like that, nor a nice view. 
the room was moulding and the beds were moisty...

we stayed, as tired and Mardin fully booked. Not a place i would ever want to return. We escaped... 

The hotel has potential but you really need to fix the basics first.

Needs a proper refurbishment - nice location but not maintained

We had recomendation for this hotel from the hostel in Sanliurfa. And I have to say that it was really nice and amazing. Old building from 15th century, awesome view of Mardin and the plains of Mesopotamia and what else you want?:)

The best

We traveled in Mardin in April 2015 and we felt secured, considering the syrian war. It is also true we did not wonder the street in the night.
The hotel has an impressive panorama overlooking the Mesopotamia plane. 
The nine hundred years old building felt like a museum. 
The room and bathroom were very clean. 

Parking, one hundred meters away from the hotel, is safe and secured. 

Minuses
Getting to the hotel is an issue. We could not find it by address, only by coordination. Even so, on the map it looks so easy to reach.
All the streets around the hotel, are, in fact, just stairs. So no auto access. The access car street and parking is some hundred meters away. So packing the basic might be an idea. 

Beeing such an old building, typical for Mardin, the hotel has three levels. Access is only by narrow and slippery stairs. No elevator. Can be an issue for small children, old people or heavy luggage. We were helped with luggage only when we arrived, when we left was only Bye bye :).

No wifi at the last level.
Thick walls are great in summer time, but in spring or autumn is very cold inside, even with a heater. 
The owner speaks no English, but is full of good will.
Breakfast was served on the terrace, great idea  for a warm weather, but not for a cold one (10 degrees celsius). Also, a very late ( 9 o clock) and poor breakfast for such a fancy accomodation. Consist of a plate / person with : 5 black olives, 4 pieces of cheese, two types, half a tomato, half a cucumber, bread, omelette 1 egg/ person, only fried, few butter and few jam). Only black tea. No water, no fruits, no honey, no other choices. We have seen much better and for a lower room rate.
Check out is very early, around 10 o clock. 
We were asked to free the room and, for a short walk in the city, we were aloud to deposit the luggage in the lobby.
It is not a budget hotel.

Awesome panorama

We only spent one night in this hotel, which was a mistake. We had the Mesopotamia Suite which is just incredible (see the pictures). The top of the hotel used to be the bazaar. Beautiful views of Mesopotamia from on top of the hotel, and right out the window of the room.

We had a driver drop us off, but the location might be difficult to find on your own (as I'm sure are most hotels in Mardin). Just ask a local to call the hotel for you when you arrive, and the staff will come and show you the way.

The owner was extremely friendly and helpful (reserving our bus the following day, having staff show us the way to locations...).

If you want to stay in an ancient room, which is also comfortable, stay here!
