We especially liked the character and location of this hotel.  Useful local map and information on arrival. Very welcoming owners and staff.  Some good local supermarkets nearby.  Very handy for bus station and minibuses to nearby villages. and of course Ephesus.

Great stay

A gem in the backstreets of Selcuk! We spotted this (almost) family-run hotel offering all we needed and even more for our road trip in Turkey.
The best part is, however, what I called the experience with the host and his staff, which makes you forgive few imperfections of the accommodation. He is a professional tour guide willing to take time to explain what and how at best enjoy both tourists attractions around and places to go for shopping or to have a meal. Very warmly and nicely welcomed by him and his group of cats and dogs, which he takes care regularly. We wish all our trips were so charming and friendly like this, where you can tell, it is much more than the minimal to have you accommodated and justify the price. 

The rooms might not look brand new, but they have enough space and are very clean. Flexibility in timing for a early checkin or a late checkout was never an issue.
PARKING: quite narrow streets around the hotel with no fee to pay, but it also offers a private open air parking space (still for free). However you need to have someone around to get the gate opened every time.
WIFI/VPN: works
QUIET: very much
LOCATION: walking distance to any other spots in Selcuk. For the Ephesus ruins you still have to drive five minutes. They have a nice pool, so you don't even need to look any further to chill after a long visiting walking day.

CONS: no elevator and no mini fridge in the room. But water and other refreshments are provided refrigerated in the lobby for very little money. Also our room had only one side bed table and a single power outlet in the middle of the bed frame. But I won't call it a big issue in the end.

One night stop to visit Ephesus and a little friend

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of September / beginning of October and very much enjoyed it. Everything is just right here ! Its excellent value for money, the location is great, the owner Ilker is very friendly and helpful and speaks amazing englisch. His wife (who we didnt met) and his mother in law (who we met, and she is so lovely) are french, so french speaking people like my mother will be very happy. 

The garden with the pool is fantastic. We enjoyed swimming in the pool, reading, playing games, stroking the cute cats etc. in the garden a lot. Quality time in between visiting or discovering things. 

The breakfast served on the roof top terrace with views over Selcuk and the fortress is tasty and includes cake and home made jams.

The rooms are clean and simple, but with everything you need. Really good shower and a comfy bed. We enjoyed staying in rooms with a balcony.

This is not a luxury hotel (but its not luxury hotel prices either ;-)), but its a really great place, and I could not imagine a better place to stay in, when spending time in and around Selcuk. 

P.S. on a personal note: My mother and myself love animals, and so we enjoyed seeing that cats and dogs (like Romeo) are well treated and feed.

Truely wonderful, and wonderful value for money

If there were to give 10 stars, I would need them for Nazar Hotel and its owner! The hotel is in a top location, easy to walk from there to the bus station, train station and all the restaurants and sights in Selcuk. We had a four bed room which was huge, spotless clean and cosy. The pool and garden are great to cool off; we also enjoyed food delivered there. The terrace where the breakfast is served, has incredible vistas of the Selçuk castle - a view we will never forget! The Turkish breakfast is delicious!
A taxi to Ephesus is fast and cheap as the distance is not far.
The owner is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, easy going and will do everything to not only make your stay a memorable one, but will also help and support with any other things. In our case we were waiting for contact lenses to be delivered to the hotel; they did not arrive on time from abroad so the owner then managed to have them delivered to us in Antalya on the same day. I don’t even want to know the hassle we put him through for this - for the owner it was the most normal thing to do; that is how he is and how he runs the hotel! 10 stars and more!

Best choice in Selcuk

Awful horrible hotel.   Terrible hotel.  Rude manager.   Shower fell off on first night.   Didn't change towels or bedding in one wee5. Bin in bathroom not emptied.  Breakfast is a joke hard bread  etc.  Manager bit bothered about his hotel guests unless they are Turkish.   Several times I am sure it was used as a brothel  .  No shower or after check out amenities.   Beware and avoid.  Ita dirty and next to a sewage plant

Super hosts, very friendly and lots of great advice. Gorgeous pool, comfortable beds, traditional and welcoming rooms, best breakfast of our trip. Lemon and poppy seed cake was fabulous. Host very generous with us and our children Could recommend 100 %

Super accommodation

Our experience at Hotel Nazar was excellent. The owner greeted us upon our arrival with a wealth of information which greatly enhanced our stay. He suggested local restaurants and side trips to nearby villages. He gave us advice as to when and when not to visit Ephesus.  He also explained which tourist pass would get us the most for our money in Turkiye. 

The pool and garden are the best!  The centerpiece of the yard is an ancient olive tree underplanted with flowers. Very relaxing.

Breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace, which has an outstanding view of the castle.

You cannot beat Hatel Nazar. It is a terrific value. We stayed 3 nights in this charming small city and could have stayed longer.

Great Value, Beautiful Pool/Garden, Friendly Staff

This hotel is very clean and a great pool to cool off from the heat.  The owner was so nice and accommodating and his English was very good. Nice view of the castle from the rooftop breakfast. It doesn’t have an elevator and I thought it may be an issue with me (> 60 and plus size) on the 3rd floor - but no problems. I would stay again.

Very clean with great pool

You will not be disappointed if you book a room at the Nazar - you get so much more than a room, you get a ton of personal, helpful attention. Ilker, the owner, goes out of his way to ensure your stay is perfect in every way. He booked a long distance bus ticket for us when my credit card wouldn’t allow me to do so online, he gave us a couple of local rides as we did not have a car and he offered his invaluable advice on our tour itinerary.  Our room was lovely and has a view of the ruins. Actually the entire hotel was lovely, very homey and comfortable. I highly recommend the Nazar hotel and am so glad we stayed here!!

You want to stay here!

This is the best hotel in Selcuk!  The rooms are clean and well appointed, and some have a view of the 6th C. castle on the adjacent hill.  Breakfasts on the roof top terrace are simply excellent and the home-made jams are something special.

 Owners Ilker and Selma are great hosts, nothing is too much trouble, its a very happy environment and they are personally interested in helping their guests.  Ilker is also a travel agent and can assist with travel and tours anywhere in Turkey.

A highlight is the lush private stone walled garden full of greenery with a swimming pool.  There's currently a couple of small rescued mountain tortoises in residence!

Selcuk is a great little town to visit, plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, and this is a great little hotel 3 mins walk from the town centre!  You can walk to a number of historic attractions and even the famous ancient Roman city of Ephesus  is only 2 or 3 Km away.

Would we go back?  Yes, this was our 4th holiday to Selcuk and the Nazar Hotel, and not our last!
