Very friendly and helpful staff. The security is excellent. The hotel starts on the 3rd floor and goes up. The chef made me a delicious Indian style curry. I will return for a longer stay in the future. This was just a one night stay before I travelled on to Gulu. Julian the security guard arranged a car for me to go to the bus station and also carried my bag down.

Aponye hotel is located is located in the of the city so its easy to move to the nearby shopping outlets thus good for businessmen.depending on the room rate its affordable. gd rooms, WiFi and breakfast inclusive. And very helpful staff.

Pocket friendly hotel

It's a bit old and could need renovation but it is directly in Kampala and ok to stay overnight if you use public transport. The taxi park is just around the corner. 
The rooms are ok, bed is good and clean. Just some maintenance needed here and there in the bathroom.
What I don't like is that the second person in the rooms have to pay for breakfast...
Wi-fi is there and security is also around. The elevator was not working and we had to walk up to the 4th floor with our luggage.not a big deal but the corridors and stairs are quite dark.

Good low budget hotel

It is most definitely DOWNTOWN. So, I have to advise that only backpackers used to Africa and people used to Uganda should try to reach it and stay here. If it's your first time to Africa, it will be a huge culture shock.

We used boda-bodas to arrive in William Street, which was awash with lorries, taxis, boda-bodas, street traders and people (lots and lots of people). We walked up the ramp to the 3rd floor and suddenly all was much more peaceful. Reception rapidly checked us in and we entered our room. We had paid just 50,000 Uganda shillings (<£10) for a double room, with en-suite shower/toilet, and ONE breakfast included. There was ONE bath towel. This is Uganda, remember. The room was excellent FOR THAT PRICE. Sure the shower kind of flooded the bathroom a bit but for that price, I wasn't complaining. 

One of the lights wasn't working, so we reported it, and went for dinner. When we returned from dinner, the light was working. The bed was very big and comfortable and a mosquito net was provided. A bit noisy outside, on the Saturday we were there. There is a huge variety of shopping, local-style, on the doorstep. The hotel seems very secure and there is 24 hour access.

Compare this with other prices on the internet, at 4 or 5 times the price. But we had to phone to book, as we couldn't find an online reservation.

Can't give less than very good/excellent, considering the price paid!


Decent room in a good location. Very cheap so dont expect too much. Car was watched by security all night and wifi was good as was the food in the restaurant. 

Only major downside was cockroach infestation - just small ones but alot of them.

You get what you pay for

Great deal for such a nice hotel! The room and washroom were nice and clean. The restaurant and bar serve really good food.  The location is in the center of Kampala (it is a very busy street so getting there will involve heavy traffic). I have stayed there the two times I have been to Kampala. It is the best deal I have ever experienced for a hotel!

Great deal and centrally located!

pernote 7 days room 404 good personal cleaning the toilet very well, its restaurant very slow in its way of serving and its chef does not like me, its bar good comfort care, very spacious bathrooms and very good security at its entrances.

The hotel manager is very attentive to his guests.

The hotel is not bad if we consider the context, I paid 27 U.S. dollars for a double room and what the other comments say is still true today. The good water with good pressure is still on the 5th floor, good care and security. Cucarachas, if it is also true not alarming but hay, hygiene, more or less but for the price and the place... regular Internet. The trick, if possible to choose a room on the 4th floor, is even better to request 419 or 420 have a balcony and a glass window, with reasonable internet coverage. Rare things, the reception is on a third floor and the elevator so it reaches to the ground floor never works. Electricity is expensive and a problem in Africa.

There are several different rooms, ranging from 30,000 UGS to 55,000 UGS,the most expensive of which include air conditioning and a large double bed,as well as the cheaper categories,the cheaper rooms have a ventilator.Rooms on the street side all have a balcony,whereas rooms with air conditioning are for whatever reason glazed and not usable due to the air conditioning (heat development of the cooling module),the cheapest rooms are centrally located (atrium) and have no balcony. Breakfast is included in the room price and is acceptable, there is a garage and a room service with a very low price.The hotel has a car seat but is very convenient from the first floor to the main floor, as the price is very low in the EC, which means that you can't go directly to the hotel near Kampala, but the hotel is located near the parking lot.The hotel is located in the nearest to Kampala, and the hotel is located in the nearest to the hotel.

Perfect price-performance ratio

We arrived at the hotel at night, the neighborhood is the least, the truth is that it is difficult to be more in the center. Like any center of any African capital, the neighborhood imposes. It is really cheap, but the hotel is really bad. Dirty rooms, many, many cockroaches and our online reservation were canceled. We did not keep local currency because it was our first night and the girl at the reception was unable to leave us a bottle of water... in general I very badly remember a hotel that is far away from what is sold on its website. As I have already commented in other interventions breakfast is not included in the price.
