Shelter Hotel

Shelter is a good hotel in the center of Bukovel. It is located 20 metres from lift 2R and 50 metres to lift 7.
But it is noisy at night because Buka night club is just in front of it. 
Good food on breakfast. Ski room and polite personal.
VERY SMALL rooms (Standart +)
Mountains are great. Skiing is good!

Just came from Bukovel, attended the opening of the ski season and had 2 days of excellent skiing at the beginning of the winter! No natural snow whatsoever, but given the numerous snow cannons it was possible to start the skiing season so early, which made us so happy!
Okay,  back to our topic: we were first time at this hotel, although we were passing by it probably a hundred of times so far. It's located really in the very center of the ski facilities - it's in between the pistes 2A and 7, right near the ski rent, ski school, a bunch of shops, ATM, etc. There's no other hotel so close to the pistes, but also close to the resort center. 
We came by car (well, I must recon that it was a bit difficult to route to it because the GPS was offering a wrong way, but we finally figured it out right) and there's a free private parking available (not right near the hotel, but 50m from it, via 2 long stairs to climb, but that was ok). 
Weirdly, the reception is located on the 2nd floor, and it's stuffy in there, but that was no so terrible really. Rooms start from the 2nd floor and there's no elevator, but, again, that was bearable. Access to cafeteria is from outside. We had free breakfast (in a private area) and it was really good. There's a separate (heated) room with private lockers for ski & boots storage, it was free of charge. Access to pistes is easy and fast - the lift 2R is just a few meters away. So, it's almost a ski-in ski-out hotel. Staff was helpful. Hotel is clean, with spacious and well heated rooms. There's a free electric kettle available and additional mobile heaters for drying clothes, if needed. From the window/balcony I was seeing the piste 2A, the chair lift, shops, etc. Very nice view, indeed!

Great location but too noisy. Good breakfast

Right in the heart of the ski infrastructure!

Let us start with the beginning. We arrived with our own car, and had to get directions after failing finding the parking for the hotel. We got to the parking, which by the way is 250 meters walk from entrance, and 3 flights of stairs, where 2 f them is outdoor. Exercise we had to do, get 4 suitcases up to reception which by the way is on 2nd floor, no elevators mind you. Then one more stair to room, no elevator mind you. 
So given you have no luggage, weather is ok (not snowing as it was when we arrived) then this should not bother you. We convinced the parking guard to help us with half the luggage, gave him a good tip, which passed unnoticed and no smile. Well, do not expect too many smiles here.
Rooms are good, living room, bed room, and two toilets and bathdub, and shower. Good. However, our 4 year old son was expected to sleep on sofa with no linen whatsoever, and when my wife kindly asked for linen, the answer was; " You do not expect to get anything, he is for free?"
Well, we argued us to linen as we did not bring any extra with us (mindless of us of course).
Hotel is located where main ski lift and rental for equipment is located, so good if you want to run into the slopes first thing in the morning, mind you, after you have been at breakfast in basement in night club, which is 3 floors below were we live, and have to go out for then go into the entrance to the night club and down another flight of stairs (no elevator mind you).
Apart from being hotel, there is really nothing there, as cafe was not something appealing to us, however, do not mind our opinion on this, as people have different expectations and has to be judged accordingly. We did not use the place, as we walked around Bukovel and tried other places to eat (see separate reviews for this).

Service of rooms good, clean rooms, spacious, and veranda to be used on good days to sit (without chairs) and look at people wandering about at least to ski lifts stops running and then its quiet. Which is good in one way, as your sleep is not disturbed at least from people running back and forth. However the ski preparation machines and ski scooters took over this and created a harmonic background noise to live with till late night and early morning. Well, you are living in a ski resort and not on an isolated island alone, what do you expect?

We will not use this hotel again, as we have luggage, small kid and do not mind stay in hotel some nights and enjoy hotel restaurant for eating once in a while after long day out. And we do like elevators when its required for more than one floor for breakfast, luggage etc etc.
Well, we have seen it, been there and left. Without too many smiles from the staff, however, we had a good time in Bukovel, as we walked around a lot and found out where we want to stay next time..... :-)
