Black Castle 

My stay at the Black Castle was close to starting in the worst possible way. The hotel is located just outside the city on the H10 road towards Kalush. I needed to turn left into it and, despite it being on a long straight stretch, I was almost on top of the entrance when I saw it. Another small road just further so I decided to turn there and give the car behind me (very close behind me) a chance to slow down as well. However, as I started to turn I noticed another car trying to overtake both me and the car behind!! Fortunately, no accident but I would advise care on the turn. Now, to the hotel itself; the main building and separate restaurant are built in the style of a medieval castle and looks good externally. The theme continues internally but with almost a minimalist approach, such that it is not as overbearing as I have seen in other locations. In the well kept gardens, there is also a large ship style structure with bar and seating area (it was closed though during my visit). The room was good, clean and comfortable. Typically, breakfast had to be ordered the night before. It was not a large breakfast but sufficient. Service was very good throughout. With it being so close (10-15mins straight drive in), the Black Castle is a good alternative to the hotels in the centre and represents very good value for money.
