The hostel is perfect for backpacker who are there for a few nights. It is located approx. 20 mins from the city centre by bus. The staff can speak czech and english in addition to ukrainian and russian. The hostel is sometimes closed but you can always make arrangements with the staff.

Hostel with ideal location.

This hostel has a great, friendly and helpful chief:) On the ground floor there is Palmira Cafe where you can eat a pizza or dumplings and drink good Ukrainian beer. Hostel is clean and quite nice. There are shops and ATM very close. It is far from city centre so it is the best for  for car or bike tourists. The prize is suitable for the accomodation.

Really nice family run hostel, they have a really good bar next door, with an outdoor terrace, which is well used by the local community, so it gives you an interesting flashpoint of Ukrainian life. Also the cheapest beer I bought in any bar in Ukraine. The son of owner Jack speaks excellent English and can provide you with any local information you need. He is an amazing host. He did everything to make sure we were comfortable, happy, and well fed. It is extremely easy to get to the old part of town with the bus system: simply hop on the #1 bus. I would definitely stay here again. This hostel sets the standard for all other hostels.

The best place to stay in Kamianets-Podilskyi

Pros: Very clean and cheap prices. Beer bar on the first floor has beer at it. 

Cons: Very eastern european staff - a long list of the things you can't do with a strong admonition that you better check out on time or pay a fee is hardly a welcome. Lock out at 11pm was not listed on the site and the woman there couldn't comprehend how we didn't have a Ukrainian cell phone to call her and let us in (you can get wifi outside so we used skype but that is far from convenient). Lock-in consists of a large padlocked gate to the front door so the whole thing has a prison feel + cannot possibly be up to any fire code. Owner Jack was friendly and responsive via email but equally quick to remind about checkouts, etc on arrival. No kitchen. When I was asked I was given a confusing story about how if we had 20+ people they could hire a cook but were unwilling to do it for 3. Staff speaks no English. 

Overall, clean and cheap but service more reminiscent of a Soviet hotel than a European hostel.

Cheap and Clean - Soviet service

Jack is a nice guy and means well, and the owner was also very nice. However, they have a long way to go before making their place traveler-friendly. We had two sleepless nights in what might be the poorest value hotel we stayed at in Ukraine.

First, the location is terrible. They do not have a pick-up service. It was a chore to find and the only way to arrive is a taxi, so if you do stay here, be prepared with the name and address in Cyrillic.

The hotel is more of a locals' cheap guest house than a hostel. Although it is one bus into town, it is a very long ride. I highly, highly recommend finding a closer place, even if it costs a little more.

Second, there is no office or reception or staff on duty. At all. You are alone. If you need something you must call. It is not good for travelers.

Third, the rooms were absolutely horrid, poorly ventilated, and poorly equipped. Neither of us slept for two nights :( also I am writing this in the room at 4 AM--because there is an after-hours club blaring booming terrible music I can hear through my ear plugs. The bed was not really a bed but a sofa made with sheets, and we sweat every night because the window did not open enough--but enough for mosquitoes to get in. Awful.

The room with private toilet and shower has no sink--just imagine that. And we paid more for this room. What were they thinking?

Basically, this is one to avoid.
