Babushka Beach House

Me and my husband stayed at Babushka Beach House in June, 2013 and enjoyed our stay very much. A big house, newly renovated with all the facilities you need to make your stay perfect. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Will definitely recommend this place! Thank you guys for everything and all the best!

A great hostel

This hostel really is impossible to find.... it is extremely out of the way and is not sign posted so it took around 2 hours to find. It is a 10 to 15 minute walk to the beach. 

I was lucky that there was a great group of people there when i stayed and the garden and kitchen are nice common areas. The staff was really nice ! I recommend staying here if you don't mind being out of the way.

Bad location - Friendly atmosphere

We booked our stay here because it looked like it was close to the beach.  Well, it wasn't.  Not only was it difficult to find, it was also a 20-minute taxi ride from the city center.

The nearest beach was a 20 minute walk away and beer was 24hrn for the cheapest beer on tap.  The over-priced corner store was 10 minutes away, but the ATM didn't have instructions in english.

Upon our arrival, the hostel manager pointed to these things on a large map in the kitchen, but none of the information was on a take-away map, as we were so far from the city center, we didn't register as existing.

He didn't seem to know much of anything about Odessa and was preoccupied with watching movies on his tablet all day long.

The mattresses were thin and worn futon pads.  There were a bunch of cats running all around the hostel.

When we asked him about the "nearby" pub, he had no idea what time they closed.  When we asked him about where the action would be for Ukraine Independence Day, he shrugged and said, "I don't know.  City center?"

We'd heard that Odessa didn't like tourists, but this was ridiculous.
