Our second  time staying  in penybryn cottages  in  Abadare   in the last few years...excellent  accommodation  Debbie and Gerwyn are lovely  people .. cottages  are clean and comfortable  and warm just on the outskirts  of the town  with beautiful  views of the local countryside  we will be back to stay the next time we are heading  to South Wales  id highly  recommended  this accommodation  to anyone visiting  the Abadare  South Wales  area ...john from Ireland

Excellent  accommodation

Stayed for two nights in the honeypot cottage, and to put it simply it was delightful. Clean, very comfortable. Everything and more you could wish for. WiFi was excellent and even basic sky channels. Little garden area wasn't over looked and apart from one visit to supermarket we didn't need to leave, as it so peaceful and relaxing. Hosts were lovely and welcoming, and made us feel at home.

Cost cottage

Lovely place, enjoyed the hotub and there was even a bbq and charcoal provided. Inside was very clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The freshly laid eggs were an unexpected bonus also.

Ellis and Georgie

Stayed here for the wife’s birthday in the honey pot cottage. Brilliant and clean cottage felt very cosy. Hot tub was great after some long walks. Owners are very friendly and on hand with any info on things to do / walks. Will be sure to come again ! 

Brilliant lockdown birthday getaway 

Wow where do i start, this place was breathtaking the cottage we stayed in was the honeybee cottage it had everything you could possibly need. We slept so peacefully and the owners were very welcoming we cant wait to return 

Christmas getaway

We arrived at Honey Pot cottage mid afternoon after a pleasant journey from Yorkshire. 
We were met my our host who showed us the cottage and its amenities. He was very knowledgable about the local area and nothing was too much trouble.
The accommodation was a very high standard, was lovely and warm and a true home from home.
There was lots to do in the surrounding are. 
We were made very welcome and will definitely return.

Home from home

The location is great, the owner is very friendly and helpful, but the accommodation didn't live to my expectation, I'm afraid, hence three stars. We stayed in Honeypot Cottage, it is a nice little cottage, clean and has everything you need, but somehow didn't feel cosy, but rather cramped. Perhaps, it could make a perfect place for two, instead of four? The living room was nice, with a lovely feature fireplace, shame the sofa was broken and the lighting was very dull. The double bed in the upstairs room was very uncomfortable, someone else mentioned a dent in the mattress, I happened to have slept on it too, well, didn't get much sleep really, felt battered in the morning. The bedding was clean but very well used and tired, not very nice to sleep on it. It was very cold at night and the duvet was thin, had to put a jumper on top of my pj. What I personally find a little bizarre, that the whole place is full of random mismatching items: cutlery, crockery, furniture, decor etc., as though if it was equipped from a car boot sale. It felt very unbalancing and little depressing. The Wi-Fi was very slow, I couldn't even check my emails. We only stayed for one night only to break our journey and it was not expensive, so I was OK with it, but if I am in the area again would look to stay somewhere else, sorry.

A positive experience on the whole

Nice cottages in a scenic spot overlooking the local towns and villages. A really good insight into the welsh valleys way of life. We stayed in the honey pot,cosy,and really well equipped with everything you need for a good stay. it has a garden facing away from the hills towards a field. the only big diffence between the honeypot and beehive is the beehive also has a nice seating area at the front with a terrific view. the hosts were really good, friendly, open and communitive. the main bed in the honey pot was a bit springy but apart from that we couldnt fault it. excellent value for money.

Cosy,Well Equipped, Peaceful

We stayed for 2 nights. Very comfortable with good amenities. Good host's and a lovely place to stay. We will book again as we have family close by. Welsh home grown lamb and sausages were also available. Would definitely recommend.

I would recommend the cottages.

Great stay ,wonderful hosts,good facilities, highly recommended,loved the Shetlands in the field,had the chance to buy fresh produce,it was very clean and well equipped. There was a play area for the children and lots of attractions nearby.
