Myself and my partner both enjoyed this lovely hotel very clean and friendly staff. The jet bath was my favourite. Car park area on site which was a decent size. Breakfast was lovely we didn't stay for dinner but it looked lovely. Very close to union street walking distance is about 20 mins but on a bus its 2 minutes and busses are regular from just outside the hotel. Will defenatly return again to this hotel (: 

Excellent place to stay

Business trip found me at the Mariners Hotel. I found it very clean, comfortable and the service and reception very pleasing indeed. Dinner was very good and again the service attentive. Would definitely stay here again. Plenty of parking and free WiFi add to the commendation.

Very comfortable

The carvery concept is fast becoming the gold standard for Sunday lunches.  We have eaten here several times over the past year, and generally fared well.  The only negative is that popularity can mean queues and delays that interfere with the enjoyment of the experience.  The staff are not always the most amenable, and when busy can revert to rather bullying behavior trying to get people into line etc.

Not bad for a Sunday lunch!

this lunch was exceptionally good from the braised chickory blue cheese and walnut starter to the panfried salmon sauteed potatoes broccoli mushroom ketchup and pickled girolles. In a party of six nobody was unhappy. The deserts were equally good - bramble and apple crumble was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient . I would definitely return for what is a really good value lunch menu.

a really excellent lunch

We have been eating and drinking at the Mariner for many years.  Four of us all had the roast turkey dinner.  My first thoughts were that it was a limited portion, plenty turkey, 4 sprouts, 3 roast taters, 2 pigs in blankets, a tablespoon of skirlie, a spoonful of red cabbage and a piece of pork and apricot stuffing and some gravy.  I ate every morsel and when all is said and done it was the perfect portion size for me and I enjoyed it - more gravy for me please.  Desserts were great, spiced ice cream and rum grilled pineapple with coconut cream, and the plum pudding and custard went down a treat as did my biscuits and excellent cheese.  The restaurant appeared quite quiet which is a shame. 

A perfectly sized meal

Very friendly reception and welcome. We opted to upgrade to seaview room which was well worth the extra £10. It was a double aspect rpom with sea views from bith windows. Amazing garden which would be fabulous in summer.
Breakfast good. Cosy bar with lots of guns to choose from. Restaurant with good sea views off the bar. Food really good. Private car park opposite hotel.

Excellent

We went here for my husband;s birthday as we were meeting friends for a meal.  We decided to go the whole hog and book a room for the night as well, to save anyone driving !!  We were delighted with our room, large, clean, plenty storage, tea, & coffee making facilities with plentiful supplies along with biscuits. Very impressed with the room and the bathroom.  Excellent shower.  We had a table booked in the Atlantis Restaurant  where we met our friends for a meal.  The service was quick and efficient and the food was superb.  Everybody had a different starter and main course and the food was enjoyed by us all.  Absolutely no complaints.  The breakfast for us the following morning in the conservatory was lovely.  Buffet and cooked and you could have what you want with a very good choice.. Very impressed with the standard of service and food quality.  Would recommend and we shall certainly return

Birthday Treat

Went for an unplanned lunch with my wife and mother, busy which is a good sign, food and service were excellent and a good varied menu, plus they do smaller portion menu if required, fish and chips and the grilled liver would recommend, a nice selection of seafood dishes as well.

Saturday Lunch

Visited as part of Aberdeen Restaurant  Week. This was our first time at Atlantis Restaurant though we have visited the hotel many times and enjoyed bar suppers. 
We ate from the Set Menu which was excellent value at £23.00 for 3 courses . 
All 4 of us agreed that the choices were varied and the quality was Top Drawer . Service was also first class . 
If you like Seafood expertly cooked and beautifully presented then this is the place for you . 
We will definitely be back ..

Seafood at its best

We have eaten several times in the Mariner, it is a great favourite of my elderly mothers. However yesterday we were left very disappointed. As a treat we took mum out for Sunday lunch with our family. Three of the party are mainly vegetarians, two would choose to eat predominantly vegan. We were shown the lunchtime special menu and there was not a single veggie option either for starter or main. We asked about vegetarian and the waitress was unsure so she went and asked the chef. She came out with an alternative very limited option and one of the party selected a mushroom tagliatelle. It turned out to be not very tasty and the grey colour of the watery sauce was off-putting. It was eaten though as there was not another suitable alternative and we were hungry by this time. We did enquire about the soup but again after consulting the chef were advised it was made with lamb stock. 
It is unlikely we will return to the Mariner anytime soon until some thought is given to providing variety that caters for non meat eaters as well as meat eaters. So many places do provide veggie options nowadays that we do have a good choice of where to eat.
