The Highlander Inn has the pub in the basement which holds all the charm one would expect from a Scottish pub.  The whiskey selection is impressive and the food is quite good.  It is quite small in the bar area with a pool room on the other side of the main seating area.  The staff were helpful and the service was good.  Local residents visit the Highlander and are an important part of the atmosphere.

Local Charm

This is a great place to stay. Nice clean rooms, fun bar full of whiskey and other options but the staff are the best part. Funny, friendly, knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Food is good too, especially the restaurant menu in the afternoon and evening. reasonable outside seating area too.

Highlander Inn a hidden gem

My brother was home from Australia to Belfast Ireland and expressed an interest to visit the Macallan distillery in Scotland. Staying at the Highlander for 2 nights B&B was a wonderful experience for the both of us, with eating on both evenings from a wonderful menu that would suit a wide range of tastes.
The staff were very courteous and friendly, expressing a great interest and passion for Whisky. The owner named Tatsuya was very welcoming, as was his staff, one of which was named Ben. The Ulster Scots humour was in abundance between us, making our stay very homely. 
We found it difficult when trying to get a taxi booked for the Macallan distillery tour, however the staff and owner would not let us be beat and immediately Tatsuya stepped in and offered us a lift in his own vehicle and point blankly refused to take any financial reward for his trouble, from myself.
We could not have stayed anywhere better for a highlands vacation and would thoroughly recommend the Highlander Inn to all who wish to experience a homely welcome in Scotland. Well done to all at the Highlander, if its not broken don’t change it, as the place and service have great character, thanks again for a wonderful experience and stay.

What a tremendous experience at reasonable prices

Stayed in Craigellachie for a long weekend and enjoyed visiting this gem of a place every day. Food was delicious and reasonably priced, drinks too. If you enjoy a dram there is plenty choice, the staff were all friendly, helpful and made you feel at home.

Local gem

I was working away from home at the Glenrothes Distillery and was struggling to find a place as this was the busy season and all the hotels I usually use up there were full. Phoned in to enquire and was told, we’re pretty busy but let’s see if I can mibbe shuffle things around, well he did and sorted me out for my three nights stay.
So glad he did, gem of a place, big room and en-suite, great breakfast and evening meals, staff extremely friendly and polite also, in the bar, selection of whiskies impressive and also the staff’s knowledge of all the whiskies, Guinness at £4.40 a pint??   I was paying £6.40 in the Station Hotel, Rothes the week before.
Was reluctant to leave in the end but had to.
Also was kinda reluctant to leave a good review as I was selfish and not wanting this gem of a place to be unavailable next time I’m up there.
Sleep no problem as very quiet.

A Gem of a place.

The staff are so welcoming and friendly and the hotel is spotless. Wide range of whiskies and the food is excellent i highly recommend this beautiful hotel. This hotel is in a great location for visting the Highlands and surrounded by all the whisky distillerys which provide great tours.

Amazing

Another great stay at the Highlander Inn. The staff are so friendly and helpful - thank you Tatsuya, Cathy, Billy, Ben. The room was comfy and clean, great shower. Breakfasts are tasty and set you up for a day of exploring Speyside. Great dinners, amazing location, and we  had a wonderful time.

Lovely Inn ,lovely comfortable bed,nice breakfast,on our Scottish tour so late booking and was kindly fitted in for evening meal when they were very busy,meal was very good,very large collection of whisky’s .A very good stay.

Lovely Inn

A superbly ran Inn in a fantastic location for Distillery tours of the region. Some lovely walks from the doorstep , shops/garage in close vicinity. Rooms are clean and very good value , if you are here for Whisky then this is unbeatable. It’s a small bar but has a huge range of superb Whisky and very knowledgable owner and staff. Tatsuya ( sorry if spelt wrong ) is a wonderful host and Kai ( sorry if spelt wrong ) is a top lad , both have  an exceptional
Knowledge of Whisky,  I think Tommy was the name of the other lad that’s there regularly ( sorry if I got the name wrong , again 🤣)  he also has a great knowledge and is a top lad. All the staff are very attentive, breakfast in the morning was great and evening meals are from a small limited menu but are , for this reason , I think exceptional and great value. 

There are 2 other bars/hotels nearby. 

Copper Dog is great, don’t forget to venture upstairs to the hotel whisky/cocktail bar, a little pricey but lovely surroundings and atmosphere. 

All in All I’d score Highlander 11 out of 10 it’s above perfect 👍

Highlander Inn Whisky Weekender

Whisky drinkers dream stay. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about all things Whisky. They were also very welcoming and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The food at the restaurant was also tasty and the rooms had all the necessities. It's also in a perfect area to see all of Speyside. Definitely would come back for another stay!
