We loved this place. Great staff, good rooms, great locals and a lovely atmosphere.  Parking was easy and the breakfast excellent, we also loved the Sunday roast. A very good place to stay in this area, we will definitely be returning.  Many thanks.

Ive given it an excellent as Red Lion was closer to that than just a very good rating but its just shy of a  excellent....Just a few very very minor things to get that full excellent rating from us .

First off the staff where great informative,  friendly and welcoming especially the breakfast staff.

The Room/Bathroom......Room 3 
Spotless/ very clean and tidy a large size room with its own bathroom with a BATH YES a real bath and shower over the bath one fixed one flexi detachable.

The double shower heads/bath tap controls took a little working out as the face plates on the 3 control taps to operate them are missing so its guess work.....The toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall but lots of hot water and spotless clean.  

The toilet cistern takes ages to fill so you have that fill sound for ages  and this is the first hotel in ages with out any complementarity bathroom soap/shampoo etc 

The double bed is ultra firm but that comes down to  what you are used to . Its all so I believe two mattress to make the double so down the middle join the raised pipping sticks up into you if you lay in the middle of the bed....lay on your own side of the bed no problem .

The room paint work is slightly chipped/scratched  a bit on skirting boards and bathroom door but not bad only minor but did notice it. The rest of the decor was perfectly fine

Well equipped room  with a large TV, Good internet, kettle, iron and hairdrier. Good information cards/leaflets in the room . Good lighting lots of lamps light's around the room  and loads of plug sockets with USB in them. Sofa and coffee table, A work table with light and bed side cabinets.

Another niggle come on Red lion JUST 2 tea bags 2 coffee sachets and WHAT no biscuits or hot chocolate I cant remember the last hotel we stopped at that didn't have Hot choc and biscuits.  

Plenty of parking round the back, A night time after hours entrance with your own key. Banbury is 5-10 min drive. Esso petrol is 2 mile up the road with a shop.  If you like a curry Voujon curry house is just up the road and tasty as.  

Now for the best bit the breakfast ....FANTASTIC BREAKFAST.....A nice cold selection cereal, juices etc . Nice coffee etc . I had the full English ,.....QUALITY ...... Some the best sausages Ive had with a breakfast and fantastic thick bacon as well, hash brown, I had pouched egg which had a real golden rich yolk ...... beans, tomato, toast etc etc .........We both really enjoyed it and it set us up great for the day  ........

Great hotel a real nice stop, fab staff as say just them few niggles just sort out them few bath room mends and for the money I would expect  complimentary bath room soap etc and hot chocolate, biscuits and more tea bags and coffee.

Would I stop here again .....DEFINITELY 100%

Great hotel, great stop FANTASTIC full english ......Just a few minor niggles

It was our Christmas social but as we all work on Christmas Day we had it in January. Nevertheless there were crackers on the table and we were well catered for. We were a party of 27 who had all pre-ordered different things and a different number of courses including some sides. We were served efficiently, accurately and with good grace as we were a little like herding cats! Thank you. The food was lovely, service splendid and cost reasonable. We all had a lovely time. Thank you

Excellent service and value for money

This hotel is managed to high standards regarding,  to start with, cleanliness of rooms first class, the bathroom/ toilet are kept to expected hygiene standards, rooms are checked every day, and the beds are some of the best I’ve ever slept on 👍  as regards your restaurant requirements, this is also to high standards, menu choices, dietary needs, quality and presentation, plus pleasant friendly service, I cannot believe you would ever be disappointed, I for one have never been so !! Needless to say, I will return 👍

No 1 Hotel

We had a nice room well equipped and quiet, very clean. Had dinner here, had the fillet steak which was cooked perfectly,  menu had lots of choices as well such as fish and chips, pies, hunters chicken etc and the  presentation of the food and service were very good
Also had breakfast again plenty of choice and excellent service by helpful, friendly staff as was the bar and the reception  particularly Kirsty.
Also good being able to park at the rear of the hotel 
Would definitely recommend here

Great stay

A lovely pub lunch with a great friend Had Fish & Chips with mushie peas Always  friendly & helpful staff Good pint of Guinness as well as good strong coffee.We did not book But we think could easily be busy over Christmas period

Double room was a good size with all the necessary amenities. Our room overlooked the main road through but there was secondary glazing and we could ony just hear traffic noise. The facilities were very clean and comfortable, with a fan, hairdryer, iron and board if required. Towels were a great size. The breakfast was excellent with a great choice of items to please everyone. Food was well cooked and presented. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We also had dinner there on 2 nights and the service was great with plenty of selection and the service was brilliant. Secure parking at rear made it a first class choice.

A great stay

Loved it! The room was small but comfortable, quirky little staircase to the bathroom which was unexpected but kinda fab!  Food and drinks were fabulous and great sizes portions. Staff as always were polite and helpful and friendly. Quite and comfortable.

Quirky Room.

Lovely to go into a pub and have to spend some time choosing what to eat - in many places, vegetarians have just the one choice.  Well done to the chef for making an effort for veggies and vegans. Excellent puds as well.
i've known the exterior of the pub, in the beautiful local stone, with its inviting archway all my life, just driving past!  
We finally went in, just for a drink initially, and were impressed by it, so we had my birthday meal there on a thoroughly wet and chilly night in May.  The pub has some beautiful fireplaces, sadly unlit.  Shouldn't have to have the heating on in May but we would've stayed longer if the temperature had been more comfortable.  Small point.
We'll be back again, very good experience overall.

Beautiful place, excellent food. Recommend for vegetarians and vegans.

My wife and decided to try the Red Lion's take away fish and chips, and after a discussion with the chef, who suggested they would probably be the best we had ever tasted, and although we've had many a good fish and chips, these were up there with the best, really delicious will return soon.
