Just back from a lovely weekend away stayed in the lovely glenfern guest house with hot tub place was very clean tidy warm an welcoming owner cathy was so friendly and helpful the house had everything you need from lots of bedding towels dishwasher washing machine tea coffee milk sugar biscuits it made you feel relaxed at home very central to all shops bars an local restaurant would recommend this guest house to anyone looking for chilled break

Chilled break

Arrived at 515 in the afternoon. Rang the bell and was told “be there in a minute”. I was stood there for 5 minutes all the time I could hear the proprietor talking to children. What sort of welcome is that. Nowhere in the room to sit except the bed. The shower didn’t function properly. Came back one evening to find the cups not cleaned and no milk so couldn’t even make a cup of tea. If you knock on the door where it’s blatantly obvious that’s where the proprietor lives you’ll get ignored. Rang the bell. Ignored. If you get an upstairs room watch your head, you’ll whack it no matter how careful you are. All in all a rip off for what you pay. Oh and no breakfast. Downright lazy hosting. Balloch is nice. This place not so.

Stay somewhere else

Super location… super staff… spotlessly clean.. with plenty of towels etc… and loads of tea and coffee and water … only let down was the bed in room 2 which if we had another night we couldn’t have stayed … this was the only let down… if this issue was fixed we would return

Just home from our 4th visit at the cottage, always have the best time and the hot tub makes it even better, Gavin and Cathie are so welcoming and the place is immaculate. Look forward to our next visit!

Weekend getaway

When we arrived we met Gavin who had pyjamas and slippers on.we were given room 2. The bed was comfy but the room was small and cramped,the bathroom was even smaller and a bit tacky.it was quiet but only because room 1 was empty.We felt it was very overpriced because breakfast wasn’t included which was disappointing. The towels weren’t changed over the 3 nights we stayed. We never seen Gaven again even when we left,it’s nice to be nice and he could have thanked us for coming and if we enjoyed our stay.He seemed very uncommunicative and the guest house lacked the personal touch. We won’t be coming back

Disappointing.

Booked at last minute this place which was advertised as bed and breakfast. Next morning the day we were traveling received an email asking if we knew there was no breakfast included, replied ‘no’. On arrival asked how we accessed the hot tub, to be advised that was only for use if Staying in cottage. I said the advert was misleading and Gavin said quite a few people had questioned it. Felt at £70 per night rather expensive for room only. Very disappointed as was so looking forward to hot tub. This is still being advertised as ‘breakfast included’.

Very central

Me and my wife stayed here for a wee night away. The room was fantastic with everything in the room you could possibly need. Very thoughtful guest house. Bed was so comfortable and the room was warm and very clean. The folks couldn't be any nicer with an amazing breakfast to finish our stay here. Thank you so much and look forward to going here again. Would highly recommend this guest house for anyone visiting balloch as the location of the room was also brilliant.

Birthday treat

On the positive side, the ‘cottage’ attached to this guest house is in a perfect location for Balloch & surrounding areas. Peaceful and relaxing 👍

There are unfortunately a lot of things that we think need consideration -

Feels more like the inside of a small caravan than a cottage (good sized bathroom tho) 
The grouting in the shower cabinet needs redone, as it’s black and unsightly. 
Lots of notices around the place telling you what to do & not to do (see pic below & caravan feel above) 
Plastic flowers throughout 😩
Bed needs replaced, springs have a tune all of their own.. 
the green light emanating from the bedroom ceiling is too bright for a bedroom. 
shower head has no power flow, and is too heavy to stay in its holder. 
Price is hefty for a small living space, even with the hot tub (which was nice & clean 🙂

All in all, not bad and would probably use again if areas above where addressed

Friends wedding weekend

What a wee gem, we were in the cottage at side of main house, everything you could possible want or need catered for. Owners were so helpful and couldn't do enough to accommodate requests, totally recommend as a destination place to stay

absolutely superb

Had a wonderful stay at the glenfern , a warm welcome , fantastic service from start to finish 
From the very clean rooms , to lovely breakfast , we enjoyed our stay and if returning to balloch we would rebook
