Beautiful bnb set within an easy drive from Hawkeshead. Spotless rooms, friendly hosts and a real sense of tranquility. Easy parking, super breakfast and a real feeling of countryside with a host of chickens and peacocks.
Cannot find a single flaw or ossue and would go back at the drop of a hst. 

Delightful b n b with outstanding service, stunning views. 

Fantastic room,excellent breakfast and lovely people....stunning views,sit outside and enjoy with the beautiful company of the two peacocks. Can not fault High Grassings and look forward to returning again soon....5*

Awesome

Beautiful room which had the comfiest bed, great nights sleep.
Stunning panoramic  views from our room and all around the area.
Delicious breakfast, was nice and hot.
The whole place was spotless.
Lovely couple Carrie and Dave, gave lots of tips of where to go and what to do.
Thank you for a wonderfully relaxing break!

Amazing!

Very warm welcome from the start. Excellent host, very knowledgeable about the local area and could not be more helpful with our queries.
Beautiful room, with fantastic views. Spotless.
Breakfast was delicious and more than enough to set us up for the day.

Hidden gem

David was an exceptional host, nothing was too much trouble. The views were stunning, surroundings beautiful and the house was stunning. We loved being able to come down to the lounge and relax. The breakfast was fabulous, great sausage, bacon and egg etc, with a good choice of cereal, toast and drinks. I would highly recommend it, and will go back again.

Great host and stunning place

Lovely B&B set in beautiful surroundings. The hosts where very welcoming. 
There was fresh fruit and wine in the room on our arrival which was a lovely gesture.
The breakfast was very nice, freshly cooked and hot.
The hosts where very knowledgeable with the local area and there is a printed list of local restaurants in the room.
This was a very pleasant stay, very clean  quiet and very relaxing. I would definitely recommend this B&B and would definitely stay there again.

Tranquil

We had booked this trip early in 2021, but had to cancel due to Covid.
We rebooked and were rewarded with beautiful sunny weather. 
Our hosts were extremely welcoming and accomodating and we were stunned by the gorgeous setting and stylish, comfortable rooms, both private and common. We were delighted to find a bottle of wine and fresh fruit awaiting us in each bedroom.
Breakfast was delicious and was made with locally produced ingredients.
We would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Celebratory holiday for father-in-law's 80th birthday

This beautiful accommodation is in the sort of setting Lakeland lovers seek. It was so quiet, with birdsong and tranquil scenery spread out before you. The night skies I polluted by lights so all you could see was a million stars.
Nothing was too much trouble for David and his wife. They could recommend many local walks, also directing us to the Queens Inn at Hawkeshead for a superb meal. 
After we left we had car trouble in Ambleside and David offered to help in any way he could even though we were no longer his guests.
The pancake breakfast with fresh fruit was the finest I’ve eaten! As it was my birthday a bottle of chilled prosecco appeared for us in the beautiful lounge area. This lovely room was so welcoming to return to after an evening meal with candles and a fire lit. There were even candles outside which was a lovely welcoming touch each night. 
Sitting outside gazing at the view is something I’d never tire of and our dual aspect room provided those same views and was very comfortable.

Superb hospitality. Peaceful, stunning location

We'd been to High Grassings about a decade ago and since then the owner, David, has made a lot of changes. What stayed the same was the stupendous breakfast, and the chance to enjoy a cuppa or something stronger from a terrace looking out towards Fairfield.
What was new and very welcome was the lounge. Each night when we came back in the candles were lit and a fire roaring in the stove. It was such a cosy way to end the day. Plus the gift of a bottle of wine in each room - and another one of bubbles which turned up in the lounge when we let on we were celebrating a birthday. 
A very special place to stay indeed.

Personal touches and one of the best views from a Lakeland hotel

Positives are good location  contemporary styled B&B,  very clean and wonderful hosts, however the negatives are:—  although when you book on~line they take a card number to guarantee booking, when you arrive there is a permenant sign on the door stating they do not accept debit or credit card payments, they want payment in either cash, cheque or bank transfer, (all very inconvenient when it does not mention this anywhere on their website before arrival).
Cooked breakfast very poor, bacon thin sliced packet bacon, bacon and eggs way over cooked and obviously kept warm which made bacon hard and difficult to cut.
It’s the little things that make your stay a good experience, the towels were just bath towels not bath sheets which were not soft and fluffy, more small and quite thin and a little wraggy around the edges. Such a pity a little bit more attention to these details for the high price charged would make it a place to return to time and time again.
