Love a warm welcome!!  Popped in here this aft to see if they had a table for 1 tonight (Travelling on a photography trip). Although fully booked squeezed me in cos only little old me. Enjoyed a kiwi & lime cider in their Beer Garden after making the reservation

Soon as I walked in, shown to my table. Very attentive and friendly staff. Massive helpings! Delicious!! Cant fault a single thing. If you’re ever in Cellerdyke / Anstruther, bin the chippy to wait in a massive queue and book a table or pop in for a refreshment here. Its a hotel too and looks lovely.

Never mind the chip shop, get yourself booked in here for food!!

We found this hotel on a visit to Anstruther last Tuesday which also happened to be my husband's birthday. What a find. Lovely friendly staff in the bar but as it was such a lovely day we decided to eat in the beer garden. It's up some steps but secluded and tidy. I ordered a solo seafood platter which turned out to be more than ample for both of us. Presented beautiful with hot smoked salmon some haddock and prawns with tartare sauce and marie rose sauce in pots and a lovely salad with olives. We had our small border terrier with us and had a lovely time just sitting and eating. Very friendly people outside too. We will be back.

Lovely lunch

Visited today for lunch with my mum, friend and our daft dog. We all had the seafood chowder to start and battered haddock after. We all agreed it was the best soup and fish any of us had ever tasted. It was fresh and perfectly seasoned. The batter on the fish was so light. The staff were lovely and we'll definitely be back next time we're in Fife. Highly recommend.

Girls on tour!

We booked this hotel for a 2 night stay back in April. We were finding it difficult to get accomodation in Anstruther in June. We eventually managed to get a Thursday and Friday here. We were checked in quickly enough and the young waitress even carried one of our bags up 2 flights of stairs. When we enquired what time breakfast was served, we were told it was in our room and consisted of porridge, yogurt and fruit. We assumed there would be a cooked breakfast as it is advertised as bed and breakfast. There is a restaurant there which serves lunch and dinner. When we got into the room there was no porridge and 2 bananas, 2 apples and 2 small tubs of yogurt in the fridge. I would have expected, if it was continental breakfast that there would be bread or croissants or some cereal.  I mentioned this to the waitress and she went to the local supermarket and got 4 tubs of instant porridge. When we ate it the next day it reminded me of wallpaper paste and was completely tasteless. The room was clean enough and there was a nice view of the harbour. For the money that we paid we would have expected a cooked breakfast.

Dissapoining.

First of all the good. Excellent location and a room with a view. The manageress Tammy made us very welcome showing us the room and facilities. Separate door to the accommodation providing access at all times and Tommy’s mobile if we had any problems. The room was pleasant with a spacious walk in wardrobe and a good en-suite toilet and shower area. Everywhere very clean. So, why only an average star rating?  Our visit was in late May before the main season and we were charged £95 for a double room only.  Breakfast was not provided nor were there any convenient places nearby to get a proper Scottish breakfast. A ‘Complimentary’  carton of “Instant Porridge” (yuk) on just the first night we felt was a disgrace for a hotel in a country famed for its porridge. It made us feel that the owners of the hotel, although they had facilities and a dining space in the pub area, just couldn’t bothered providing the service.  For that reason alone we didn’t feel as though we could provide a Good rating. The other reason was that we had not been made aware at the time of booking that the access was, first of all, via very steep stairs and then via an extremely risky 18th century stone spiral staircase.  The owners have provided good lighting and handrails on the wall but for an 80 year old with two cases to haul up there it was treacherous. We were aware that access was “by stairs” but we were not prepared for this.  So sorry but only three stars.  It wasn’t much the price as the lack of a decent breakfast.

Two night stay

We stayed in the Crew's Nest room with fantastic views over the Anstruther harbour.  We were checked in by Sam who was great, and settled us in giving great info about the hotel and area.  I would definitely book again, and can fully recommend this lovely hotel.  The room had a fridge in it with complementary bottled water and there were fruit and instant instant porridge for your breakfast with the usual tea and coffee provided.

Magnificent Stay and Views

Visiting The Boathouse  again after 2 years. The setting, atmosphere , great choice of drinks . The staff here are great at making you feel like a friend, not a visitor. Murray was our server and he along with the rest of the staff made us feel so welcome. We will definitely return and recommend to our friends.

Amazing staff and service

We were here a couple of years ago, dark wet windy January night, made to feel welcome.
Back here today on a beautiful sunny afternoon and
the staff are at it again, welcoming smiles, nothing a problem, happy, smiley. Great place n murry is star.

Great venue

East Neuk is a fantastic part of Scotland and a great surprise to me. It helped that we had great weather and one really hot day. 
The staff at the Boathouse couldn't have been more helpful.
The location is right on the harbour front and there are lots of places to eat almost next door.
Parking is plentiful and cheap close by and spaces right at the door.
We ate twice in the restaurant and the food we had was delicious.
The building is old like nearly all the properties in the area and this is the problem.
The staircase is initially steep to the first floor then circular and narrow to the second floor. 
WiFi was non existent on the 2nd floor and the TV signal kept breaking up. 

Good but with flaws 

Just had a lovely stay at the Boathouse Hotel, Anstruther. We had a one bed suite with lovely sea view overlooking the harbour. Nice decor. Bedroom was a good size with comfy bed and en suite bathroom. Walk-in wardrobe with plenty of storage. There was a separate kitchen/sitting area. Wi fi was good. Clean towels and tea and coffee were supplied every day by Audrey, the Housekeeper. There are two sets of quite steep stairs leading up to the room so would not suit someone with mobility issues.
